Mmmm, I wasted way too much time on my character. It would be OK if I was doing the jam. I got too used to having an extra day and as a result finishing a game tomorrow is going to be quite hard.

Job Description: Lighthouse Keeper at Styx River, you got to persecute souls trying to escape hell, lonely but comfy.

I decided to work on art first, since the theme made me think about a lot of artistic references, I’ll work in the mechanics tomorrow.

LD19: Saturday’s End (Almost)

I’m going to keep working for a bit before I go to bed, but I think it’s about time I post my progress. I’ve done quite a bit so far, in my opinion. Except put in a goal, gameplay, and really anything interesting.

My progress so far.
WASD movement, mouse + click to aim and shoot. Reported to not work on Linux machines.

Hardest stumbling block I’ve hit so far was the my basecode wasn’t able to delete entities. Annoyed, I tried to first morph it into something horrible: a conglomerate of entity system and procedural code. Turned out horribly. So I went back and fixed it.

Maybe I’ll post more plot before I go to sleep for the night. I kind of want it to be in-game, though.

I really feel like I’ve got a decent amount done. Currently, you inderectly control the little grey thingy by telling it when to jump, and manipulate the environment by making the jewelry do things. The energy beam is just a nifty little effect that I love. There’s still little sign of the “Chain Reaction” theme, I’m brainstorming how to get that in. Maybe a good night’s sleep’ll help.
