Texturing done!

It took me a full day (- 6h give or take) to make an animated, low poly mecha. This is why I’m not a graphics artist!

You can see the 32×32 texture in the top left corner. I didn’t even use all of it yet.

Tomorrow’s for gameplay then. Gotta keep it simple, but taken that I have no ambitious design this time, it ought to happen.

Now for some well earned sleep.

I’ve finally finished.

I had to cut some big chunks out of the story I was working on at the end because it reached 10PM and I decided I couldn’t keep going long enough to finish the story.

I hope the game makes sense as big bits of it were written in a hurry while I was trying to avoid dozing off! I’ve listened to a huge quantity of Two Steps from Hell in the process of writing my game!

It’s roughly 5 a.m here and I’m tired. I’ve finished the game but for some reason the loading gets stuck at 0% when playing it online through the browser. Playing it offline seems to work though. It’s a 3MB self contained flash file so I don’t really know what’s wrong. Perhaps it’s some server issue but it seems impossible that both swfcabin and google code has problems hosting my game.

End of Day 1: Rats are in!

Decided that I would add rats instead of going to sleep. Spilled my drink in my keyboard and so far the keyboard hasn’t given up. If it does it’s no big loss. I’ll have to resort to type on the laptop or buy a new one(it was the cheapest usb keyboard that I could find so it shouldn’t be so hard to find a new one).

Anyway… I added a rat enemy and decided that I wanted to add mario like jump-on-enemy-to-kill-them behavior, but before I added the code to remove them I tried out the change in velocity feedback and realized the rats was more fun as a superpowered jump pad instead of a enemy, so that is what they are right now. Changing the rat to be a enemy would mean that I have to rewrite my respawn system and I don’t have time for that at all :)

Less than an hour until the deadline. It’s gone midnight. I am rather tired. The most complicated tags so far have just gone in, (SPEECH and TALK, for enabling conversation trees. And probably anything that needs a choice actually. Whee!) and I have an infinite loop somewhere. Oh goody.

Anyway, it’s been an awesome Mini-LD. MUST… FIX… INFINITE… LOOP…

EDIT: FIXED! YAYAYAYAY!!!

Turns out, it’s because I’d got the position in a string, modified the string, then still used that position. Silly me. All works now! Time to update the documentation, submit, and go to bed, and only 25 minutes to spare. 😀
