Cleaning up the desk, testing my workflows and toolchains. Just one more day of prep…

After two LD compos gone horribly wrong, I am in once again.
This time, however, I am not alone: My mate nerdy and I are going to try our best to create a game and hopefully learn a lot on the go. That is what we are participating for, to learn more about game making and techniques.
We are going to use:
- Java with LibGDX in IntelliJ IDEA
- FL Studio/Bitwig Studio
- Photoshop CS6 Extended
My setup:
Nerdy’s setup:
Nerdy is going to stream part of the development process from his point of view; you can watch the game making at nerdyhype’s twitch channel or follow his status updates at his twitter.
I wish I could also stream my perspective, but unfortunately my internet really isn’t well-suited for live streaming.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing all the amazing games this ld is going to produce and wish everyone good luck!
(EDIT: Note: It actually already started, but I wasn’t able to submit my post due to the site being offline :P)
Hey everybody! I just got a bunch of relaxing sleep (it’s about 3 AM) and now I’m motivated as hell. Let’s do this!
I actually wanted to do a live stream, but it seems that this won’t be possible without any issues, however I’ll try to do a timelapse instead.
And just because everyone else does it, I’ll show you my workstation:
A second screen would really be incredibly useful, but I dont have one :/ At least I have a second keyboard, because I don’t like programming on immovable and non-adjustable laptop keyboards. Oh, and that thing on the left doesn’t just look like an external HDD I fixed with duckt tape, It actually is.
Anyway, dood luck everybody! 😉
For the second time, I’ll join Ludum Dare 48!
I’ve been excited for weeks now and now it’s close.
Haven’t programmed in months though so I may not be as sharp as last time. But I’m coming for the fun and challenge 😉
What I’m going to use (properly):
- Programming: IntelliJ, Either using Slick2D or LibGDX.
- Graphical: Adobe Photoshop CS6, Pyxel Edit or Pickle.
- Sound: bfxr, sfxr or LabChirp.
- Misc: If neccessary I’ve new resources and knowledge; Blender, VPS at RamNode
Best of luck to all your guys, last time was super fun for me and I hope the best for this time again! 😀
EDIT:
Tomorrow, I’ll properly give a little kick-start for myself and do a quick ~something for training purpose.
So, this is my second Ludum Dare, and while I didn’t do all that badly my first time, I told myself I’d prepare this time. So here’s my setup, complete with plenty of snacks of questionable healthfulness.
I’m gonna be streaming over on twitch so feel free to come say hi, if you’re not working on your own entry, which you probably will be.
Good luck everyone!

Setup For Ludum Dare 22!
With the start of LD #22 in less then a week now, I’m getting my tools set up! I’ll most likely be using
- Unity 3d Indie (Experience: 1 1/2 years) : Mostly Javascript as the language
- Possibly Blender 3D (Experience: 1 1/2 years)
- Garageband (Experience: 2 years)
- CFXR (Experience: 1/2 year) : The BEST program for sound EVER
- Pixlr (Experience: 1 year) : Online substitute for Photoshop :p
- Unity Forums (Experience: 1/2 year) : The best weapon in my arsenal! My Page
Without a doubt I’ll be using Unity’s Standard Assets Source Code as no man can code without it!!! Also, I may use some of assets from Unity’s example packages such as: Lens Flares and The First Person Demo (demo is removed for some reason, I guess it’s obsolete)
Good luck to all, hope Notch doesn’t completely own us!
Like many others I’ve cleaned off my work area. I don’t know if it’ll result in clean code, but it’s a lot less distraction, and for someone as ADD as I am, it makes a big difference. That… and it’s just a good reason to actually clean the house up a bit.
Since last time I’ve got a new motherboard and processor, which ironically was not the issue when my computer blew up. Actually turned out to be my video card. Kinda had been looking to upgrade anyways and I had some RAM that fit it lying around… and I wasn’t going to drive it all the way back out to where I got it from. So I’ve got an older video card in here, but it’s suiting me just fine.
And… just to my left… is a ridiculously colorful array of feather earrings. I make the little dreamcatcher parts for some of them, my wife does…. everything else. Lots of productivity in this house 😉
I plan on staying up tonight knocking out a few more features I want to have ready for tomorrow night. I need some more specific functions for scanning for objects and I’m trying to re-implement my 3d tile-based map stuff. Very exciting to actually take my engine for a test drive with this!
