Oh yes.

I was –kind of– disappointed with the theme not being snowman this morning. Over the night I though of a whole nice story involving nightmares of a snowman shaped figure, then a horror as the snowman becomes more and more real, getting into your house, etc. Next time :)

Demaking Manic Miner

Manic Miner is one of the earliest platform games.. and probably the first one I played. It was made for the ZX Spectrum in 1983 by Matthew Smith . More info in here.

I’m demaking this mega classic game, as It would have been made in 1981 instead of 1983 using a IBM PC with CGA graphics card (I didnt know this card until the 90’s IIRC). More info here.

I’m using Construct 2, and so far I have first two screens… platform physics is different but good enough to homage this great game…

This is the original…

This is mine…

You can try it here. (cursor to move, Z to jump).

My plan is to add tomorrow:

  • Intro screen
  • Level 3
  • Sfx and bgm

And it’s a wrap… I guess.

Now here it is. My final version, it lacks sounds, music, menus. But it was fun to try.

It’s a game where you cruise the digital roads to deliver data packets. Or as fry said it “YAY, I’m a delivery boy!”, there are 6 different missions. But the game should get boring after some time… if only I didn’t need sleep.

You can download it here source code and windows binaries included. Should compile for Linux (and maybe Mac) without much fuss, but didn’t include makefiles for that.

Sort of. The library is sorted out. Collision work most of the time. You pick up the yellow check points, and there is a timer, which will hopefully be visible till the end. Now for the final push. :d

Well here is my first in game screen shot, if you can call it that. Basicaly created a random road generating algorithm, tweeked it a little. It would still need some tweek, in order to get a nice flowing road system without dead end’s, but that can wait. Right now it need some interaction.
