I have completed my first game jam!  You can find it here:

I was warned that it would take more time than I thought, and it definitely did!  My game is finished enough for the Jam, but I plan to update it more in the future.

I know it is a simple game compared to many others posted here, but I would still appreciate your honest feedback and ratings!

I look forward to trying some of the other LD games!  Until next time!

Day 1 is over and I got a lot done! This game turned out to be MUCH bigger than I planned, in fact, it’s my biggest project yet! Although it is a big game, I’m moving along quite smoothly, and I will be done very soon.

Here is a W.I.P. link:

To-Do List:

– Add knights

–  Add The King

– Add functionality of ghostling

– Debug

– Final Name: Ghost Fortress

– Currency: Inguo (pronouced ing-gwo)

Lots Of Progress

As the day goes on a lot of work is getting done! Not much more to do…? My first game jam, so I hope I’m on track.

Backstory: You are the leader of a group of ghosts that attacks a nearby kingdom every night. One night, you forget to attack! The kingdom’s King, sees this as an opportunity to get revenge and attack your fortress! Now you must, with the help of a dragon miner and a ghostling, defend your fortress and destroy theirs! (King will come into play after all of the knight code is done and they cannot do anymore.)

What I have not finished:
– Knight implementation
– King implementation
– Music
– Ghostling coordinates

– castle/fortress HP

– some art
– fixing bugs

What I have finished:
– player movement
– thunderstorm that damages player and knights
– miner
– powerup
– attacking
– most art
– page transitioning

I’m in, and my son (9) is in. His first game jam!

He’s stoked, has a great idea already. We’ll be working and submitting separately for the 48-hr compo. Hopefully we keep each other on track!

He’s using Scratch since he’s most familiar with it right now (he’s done Python and Construct 2 projects before). I’ll be using Construct 2 as I usually do for these things. I’m a bit rusty after most of a summer away from gamedev, but gonna give it a hard go anyway.

Good luck, everyone, and have fun!

I’m In!

Hi. I am going to be entering in Ludum Dare 30. I will be entering in the jam. The tool I will be using is Scratch. Good luck to anyone and everyone who enters!

Montage and greetings…

HybridMind's Montage

So there is my montage. It has been really fun looking at all the other montages people have been posting.

I’ll either be using Flash IDE and ActionScript 3.0 from scratch or HTML5 and Javascript/Canvas via Akihabara game framework if I am feeling adventurous enough to use LD to learn a new tech. Depends on whether I’m gonna do the compo or the jam. Will probably wait to see the theme announcement to make up my mind. I’m worried the jam might not quench my competitive spirit especially since I missed the last April LD.

The thing I am pretty excited about is that a few of us New Englanders are getting together tomorrow to develop in person over in Portsmouth New Hampshire.  If anyone else is in the area you’re welcome to join us! We’ll be picking out a non-crowded cafe over there tomorrow and about 4 of us will be getting together so far. Pretty psyched about that part for sure!

Long live Ludum Dare!
