Yesterday evening was largely a bust, but I’ve been making a decent bit of progress today.  Hooray!  I’ve got random dungeon generation up and running now, and MY SPECIAL SECRET IDEA THING!  Let’s see if anyone can tell what it is from a pair of screenshots.

First, just the random dungeon as one would expect to see in a Wolfenstein-esque raycasting FPS:

Next, same dungeon, same position and everything… but now with my crazy idea enabled:

Any guesses as to what’s going on?  Any idea what my game is?  Tune in to my next post for the answers!

Evolver is a game where the point is to explore the randomly generated world.  Exploring the world will allow you to pick up ability points which can then be used to evolve or upgrade your character and make him better at exploring the world.

Here is a link to the game

*edit*
You may notice the instructions panel is blank, one of more than a few things that didn’t make it off of the list and into the game.
Instructions :
Camera : Mouse (lmb/rmb change how it moves around)
Movement : WASD
Esc/Return : Bring up menus
Special Powers : double press W for dash, Q for Ecolocation
There’s a whole lot more that can be done, but figure it out on your own.

NPC Quest

LD48 #3 was themed “Preparation – Set it up and let it go”. For this I originally made a game where you were a leprechaun and needed to plant traps to kill people trying to come steal your lucky charms. For some reason, despite how fun that sounds, I couldn’t get anywhere on it and quit halfway through. Then I came back on the second day, reusing some of the code and graphics and created NPC Quest! It’s a game of buying gear for a fantasy hero, and then watching him fight battles without your help. It’s actually more strategic and fun than it sounds.
