Refuge – Unfinished

Well, we ran out of time so it’s unfinished, but I had a lot of fun. I don’t really know what I’m supposed to say here, but you can try it out for yourself over here. We might finish this at some point and turn it into a proper game.

I’m in!

Hey folks! I think this will be the third(?) time I’ll be entering the LD Jam. Perhaps this time, I’ll actually finish something? Who know huh..

I’ll be programming in Haxe, using the OpenFL framework.
I’ll also try to use vector assets done in Inkscape since i suck at art.

Should be fun, right?

Nunsaram – post-mortem? what?

This is our first jam, and I guess it could be called a success because we made it!

quite a late post, but still…

We (me and endwl) made a game called Nunsaram. Nunsaram is the Korean word for snowman.

We had a fun time. I learned how important goals were, and also how to package & distribute games. Endwl learned how to do good pixel art.

We actually made a gigantic u-turn around the 48 hour point. We were adding too much “new”/unplanned aspects to the game, and we had reached a limit. Slow typing speed, too many bugs too fix, too many pixels to color, and thus, low morale. Eventually we reverted to our original idea and half the code in Game.hx rendered useless.

Oh yes. i used Haxe + OpenFL on Sublime Text. no IDE. not this time.

Endwl used something, but I don’t know.

We used a Yamaha piano and Audacity and sfxr for the sound

I’m getting the timelapse (29 hours whoo!) together, so it’ll be up soon.

Next time, we’re gonna focus more on the “original goal” and save time for sound and stuff.

Happy holidays! and vote Nunsaram pls

p.s. what is a post-mortem (I’m new)

Finally, better FPS! :3

Finally, FPS on native windows port is good enough (recording doesn’t show, though :<)! Gotta do some basic AI and graphics today if I don’t sleep. 😉

I think this game will have only one survival stage. Will do what I can to make it refined. First LD sounds more exciting now that things are going well. 😀

About the game, I still need to finish a few things, but what can I say is:

  • Is, somehow, I think, really, a family-friendly” zombie “arena” shooter where you don’t have control of the bullet direction;
  • The more ammo you have, the less you bleed;
  • The less ammo you have, the more you bleed (genius, yeah, I know :P) and health keeps decreasing;
  • Ammo and Health recover automatically when not shooting;
  • It’s about fruits!

I hope the end result will be fun and playable. :)

“Geneva” – a game about conventions

Hi there ladies and gentlemen :)

Probably a bit of a no-brainer but yeah – I’m doing a game about weapons that are not allowed by the Geneva Convention, specifically chemical weapons, specifically Chlorine Gas.

YEAH! First LD, First Idea in the first few hours!

I wanted to have an idea ready as early as possible so I could tamper with programming and make it happen!

And, from what I see, I can execute this! 😀 Will try to do it as fast as I can, so I can submit to the compo but if not, will refine it enough for the jam!

It will feature:

  • Zombie fruits! (puuuuuuuuuuulp…o_O);
  • It will be a 1 stage survival-shooter (easiest thing I could think);
  • A fruit character;
  • A pun;
  • And an unconventional weapon!

Will build it in Haxe, using OpenFl! If not possible, will switch to Stencyl on GameMaker, but I feel like I can do it! And if I can do it, it will be my first “finished” game!

Good Luck for Everyone! /o/

Final preparations for the compo/jam?

Just updated my LD32 repo at github ( with a blank game project (Haxe/OpenFL project for FlashDevelop).

I also put some code for a FPS/Resource monitor and the code I use to draw my company logo.

Is it ok to use this for the compo?

Also…gotta clean up my desk and get some snacks! I’m shivering >_<

I’m in post #6

So here we are again, it’s always such a pleasure. Another gamedev weekend is approaching fast so it’s time for another obligatory “I’m in” post. Not much has changed in my toolbox since last LD so lets list it shortly.

Editor: Sublime Text
Language: Haxe
Framework: OpenFL (may with openfl-bitfive)
Graphics: Gimp, Inkscape
Sound editing: bxfr, LMMS, MilkyTracker, Caustic
Planing: notebook and a pencil

This time, I’m going for a complete experience. I don’t want to make the same mistakes I made in my previous attempts and create a somewhat playable prototype but rather a game that feels good to the player.
I’m probably stick to 2D top down or even a flat puzzle game this time to avoid coding broken platformer physics yet another time.

Good luck and lots of fun to all participants.

PS: No bonus themes yet?
PS2: Technically, it is my “I’m in” post #5. I didn’t wrote one the first time as I started in the middle of the weekend back then. 😉

Time to say thank you all for ur rating/comment for my first LD !

I learned a lot of this exp with my Snow-koban like game and i hope i do better for the next LD!

Good luck to all ! 😉

Too many bugs remains for now.. try to fix it now !

I’m in for the fifth time

I had to skip the last Ludum Dare but I am back for number 31. This is going to be my fifth LD.

I’m going to use one of these hip frameworks and not pure JavaScript this time for the sake of development speed.

Editor: Sublime Text 2
Language: Haxe
Framework: OpenFL, may with Haxepunk
Graphics: Gimp, Inkscape
Sound: bxfr, LMMS, MilkyTracker, whatever I can find
If I need some server-sided backend, I’ll use PHP. 😉

Well this is my first ludum dare, and its going well, but relatively slowly. The first night (friday) I started work on a top-down alien planet exploration and cataloging game…It went nowhere fast. This morning, I decided to scrap everything and start fresh. I had no ideas (still don’t) so I went as bland as possible and started work on an underground platformer. Its going pretty well, although I have a hard time keeping motivated. I’ve also realized that I’m not very big on level design…. Heres some gifs, and for more progress you can follow me on twitter (

Although it was not completed in time for the Jam, we would like to share the game we started for Ludum Dare 28.

COIN – Final

“COIN – You got only one” is a micro-investment simulator.

What will you do with your only coin? Buy a hotdog, hear a busker song or throw it into a sewer?

Choose well, you have only one chance.

What would others choose? Check out stats at the end of the game.

There’s not much of a gameplay, but I enjoyed drawing the characters and after a series of code-heavy Ludum Dares, this one was a treat. I made it in 10 hours (my awesome wife helped me a bit with sound effects and played the busker guitar song).

Compo Plan Changes

Saturday, December 14th, 2013 1:17 pm

In my last post I said I would join the Jam with a friend of mine, but it turned out that I would be working solo so I am going for the compo instead.

I also forgot to declare that I will be using code from one of my personal libraries. I wrote a tutorial for PCG (you can download the code there) recently and I’ll be using the code to get some randomized levels for my LD game. I hope that it’s ok to declare it late. Good luck everyone!

Oh and one more thing, I’m developing in Linux and using Vim instead of FlashDevelop. (What the hell is wrong with me?)

I’m in!

This will be my third consecutive LD (fifth total) and I’m very excited! The last two times I’ve used GameMaker (which is great for game jams), but this time I’m changing to something new!

Platform: Haxe and OpenFl (flash as primary target).
Base code: I have some classes that are available on GitHub, but it is nowhere close to complete at this point.
Editor: FlashDevelop
Graphics: Most likely Pickle, but could also be Gimp or Paint.Net
Sound FX: Bfxr
Music: Pixitracker most likely
Timelapse: Chronolapse
