Montage and greetings…

HybridMind's Montage

So there is my montage. It has been really fun looking at all the other montages people have been posting.

I’ll either be using Flash IDE and ActionScript 3.0 from scratch or HTML5 and Javascript/Canvas via Akihabara game framework if I am feeling adventurous enough to use LD to learn a new tech. Depends on whether I’m gonna do the compo or the jam. Will probably wait to see the theme announcement to make up my mind. I’m worried the jam might not quench my competitive spirit especially since I missed the last April LD.

The thing I am pretty excited about is that a few of us New Englanders are getting together tomorrow to develop in person over in Portsmouth New Hampshire.  If anyone else is in the area you’re welcome to join us! We’ll be picking out a non-crowded cafe over there tomorrow and about 4 of us will be getting together so far. Pretty psyched about that part for sure!

Long live Ludum Dare!

Hey all,

After how great the last one was I wouldn’t miss this for the world. Going to be using much the same setup as last time, flex, some base code, the GIMP, as3sfxr, audacity, whatever. Asuming I get the time I’ll probably be making music in HighC.

My base code is available here. For those that care about how ‘from scratch’ everything is, it’s probably about the same level of leg-up as Flixel or FlashPunk, but I started it before those emerged, and I’m comfortable with it now. It’ll be enough to hit the ground running, but not to take all the huff out of the sprint.

Oh, and as it seems to be the done thing, this is what I’ve done here before:

Jonathan Whiting's Portfolio Thing

I hope everyone is as hyped as I am. Have a great time, and make something amazing! :-)

My LD History Collage

There it is!  Can’t believe it’s been 20 entries.  Can’t believe how long it took to make the collage!  Actually, I don’t think I ever submitted Space Cruise, but I was making it for the contest, and I still have it partly done, so there you go.  If you want to check out any of these for some reason, visit and search and search until you find them!  A couple aren’t available there, but those are some really really bad ones.  My first one goes back to LD#0 – Indirect Interaction (in 24 hours, not 48!).  Beat that, n00bZ0rz.

Credit to Jovoc for the artsy hexagonal layout which I stole.

Montage, or, Everyone Else Did It

I’m not sure how this started, or why exactly it is going on, but making montages of previous entries does seem fun. If it is because you get to show off or some other more noble reason I cannot say. But here goes.

Ghosts of the past…

Well, just posted to express my intent of participating on this Ludum Dare… I won’t have the whole 48 hours to work on the game, so I decided to go for the jam instead, and since I’m at it, I’m going to use my own C++ engine, some assets from old games I have laying around, etc…

And since all the cool kids are doing it, montage of previous LDs:

Good luck, everyone!

I did 5 LDs in a row, took a break, and now I'm making my comeback!

Here’s the three entries I made from the past :

LD montage pic

LD15 pic – Cavern Chase – my first ever entry into LD. Came out quite well for a first entry.
LD16 pic – Explore Quest – This was a dream to make. there’s a Timelapse too.
LD17 pic – Mad Hatter Island – This was a nuts idea for an entry in the last hours of LD#17. Made in 2 hours start to finish.

LD18 – Who knows? Let’s hope it’s something good :)

How does this work again?

So I’m still relatively new to Ludum Dare so my montage is a little sparse:

Very excited about making something awesome this weekend as I’ve been too busy this month to work on my other game projects.

I’m going to travel to Cambridge first thing tomorrow morning to join in the Ludum Dare Jam we’ve got going on there that Terry’s already posted about.

As I’m not really into the competitive side of Ludum Dare I’m going to be jamming from the outset but hopefully some of you will still play my game.

Though I can’t say for certain right now I would suspect I will end up building something in Unity and use SketchUp to do the modelling for it.

Gonna be a great weekend!

Here are my previous Ludum Dare Games

I’m most likely going back to my 3D roots for this compo. I will use C++ with Ogre, CEGUI and OIS. I will be using my framework that was used in LD16 which is here.

Bandwagon jumpage, Linux and themes…

These seem to be all the rage, so here are my two (!!!1!!@!!) previous entries (the first of which didn’t even get finished on time..)

In other news my engine and test game both compiled and ran in Linux (Arch x64) with minimal tweaking, so a late/post-compo port is likely (and should only take a few minutes).

Also, my theme picks are Isolation, Bugs and Darkness (oh and double zombie rainbows of course!), I voted all others down.
