It’s been a busy few days for me and my friend Brandon, but we managed to finish our game for the jam and I must admit I throughly enjoyed every step of the way.

I was responsible for the visual side of things and Brandon handled the code- I don’t know why but there is something so satisfying about creating a tiny pixelated monster and bringing it to life within a game.

Anyways go give it a try and let us know what you think of our- and my first- game.

Deep in the caves

For this Ludum Dare I decided to use minimalistic graphics (and no 3D Elements), but to implement sound and music.

I’ve created a simple cave generator with three tiles:

This will be the main level. The Player needs to build some kind of a underground monster village where he needs to farm and so on.

The Goal is to exterminate a few human villages (Don’t know how many yet)

You can upgrade your buildings and then spawn more powerfull monsters!

Have a nice day,

Things are working here!

I did a little update video on the new things.

I have a working UI and you can select from 2 items to place in the maze – ofcourse you have to buy them first. The Traps are stationery, the monsters are simply randomly traversing the paths.

Next thing is to make them interact with each other. This is the last hard part in the project – I hope I’ll have time for some polishing too.

This is the current progress, only 3 levels now.

I have already submitted the app to Appstore, I ‘m preparing the new version with the issues from my three beta-test teams (iOS, Android, BB)

Guns Rule finished!

It’s done!! You can now blast away at monsters with an infinite number of randomly generated guns to your heart’s content. (The guns can do some pretty interesting things, if I say so myself).

Can you beat my highscore?

Swarm was my entry to LD8. The theme of was, well… “swarm”. I know, I know, I’m no good with coming up with names for my entries. Anyway, for this game, I coded an entire 3D engine (octree based) from scratch. So, I spent most of the 48 hours debugging octree code, and crammed in some gameplay towards the end. Since I never spend more time on gameplay – it still should be as fun to play as most of my games :)

This is an in-development screenshot, showing some octree debugging going on.

That’s how the game looks like. Shoot down all the pink, eyed balls to encounter the uber-cool-final-boss-with-superior-AI. (I got feedback suggesting that at least one person actually played long enough to encounter the boss – so I consider the gameplay aspect successful.)

Here’s a mirror of the original submission: Swarm
