I made it!

I posted my first Compo and third LD game!

Drawing sprites was fun. In fact, I’m a programmer and my graphic skills have always been somewhere between: “I can resize this photo” and “I can make a programm that draws this better than me”. But it ended up much better than it could be.

My monster is now yours.

Is this a game? I think this is a game.

It’s a story!

Right. So here we are, in my little ‘let’s do Ludum Dare in 24 hours instead of 48’-moment. I have used Ren’Py before this, but I realized that since I had so little time, I could probably not do both content and graphics/sfx. So I opted to use Twine, an interactive storytelling tool, instead.

It’s kinda fun! So far we’re slowly getting there: the story of a vampire who has made a deal with the local adventurer’s guild to ‘judge’ aspiring adventurers. If you think they are good adventurers, you can let them ‘beat’ you. If you don’t, you can kick their behind and send them packing.  Of course, you could always give in to your monstrous nature… but you’re not that kind of monster. Right? Right?

Ludum Dare #33 – Day 1 Progress

We have been hard at work for our Jam entry for Ludum Dare 33. This will be our 12th consecutive entry. Making good progress but still a lot of work to do.

I didn’t know if I was going to enter until the last minute. Theme seems fun so it’s nice to be back.

Listening to Nightwish and Sabaton.

I’d always wanted to make an arcade game but for some reason never did. This might be the time for it.

I hope I can finish in time and hopefully the game will be good enough.

The monster is inside u-u-unity…
But still not rigged, not animated. And then I need to model two-legged food which runs away. And assemble some nice burping sfx. And so on. Much to do.

My monster is modelled so far. Still needs to be texture painted, rigged, animated, and imported to Unity3D.150822_EatMonster_BlenderScreen

SkyfishArt checking in. Over here at Bitraf, Oslo, we did have several attendants yesterday and today. I couldn’t participate the whole time, but here is my progress on our “Mokepon” (name might change) game. Its about monsters fighting. You are the monster. wow. Instead of the mokepon trainer who shouts commands at you. Can you tell wich one is my favourite yet? (hint: it’s the one I worked on the most. I’m already kind of fed up with them all) It’s the first time I do pixel art! I have to do animation for all of these, it’s looking like a kind of fighting game so far. I have so far in my life primarily only done 2 frame animations, so this will get very interesting.

I have 2.5 hours to spare per task including:

creature design
creature render
level design (bg)
ui design
animated moves

1 hour left on creature design. Ughhh I’m not feeling grass and water mon yet.

Working on “Hugs”

You play a kind but slightly retarded monster. You really want to hug everone you see. The problem is that you are a monster and people tend to run away from you. You need to sneak up on them to be able to hug them. Unfortunately you always hug to hard and crushes them. You get really sad for a moment, until you spot another human too hug :)
