Game Jam Q&A Panel @ MAGFest 2016

Video of our game jam panel at MAGFest is not available online! This is definitely worth watching for game jam advice and inspiration. We had some amazing panelists including 01010111 who won Ludum Dare 32, and Susan Gold, founder of Global Game Jam. I wrote up a full post mortem about it on my blog.

Come to MAGJam at MAGFest – A One Hour Game Jam Event

Just a head’s up for anyone coming to MAGFest this year. We will be offering a small Game Jam track this year. Starting with a Q & A panel with some experienced jammers including 01010111 winner of Ludum Dare 32, and Susan Gold the President/Founder of Global Game Jam.  After that panel we will take a short break and begin a One Hour Game Jam. This is not a normal game jam, instead of trying to create a full game the participants will be tasked with creating an original game concept and present it to the group. Also, it doesn’t need to be a computer game, it could be a board game, card game, or even (gasp) a sport. I’ll be hosting and hope to see you there!

How to Make a Game in 48 Hours

You guys might be interested in watching this panel we did at MAGFest with some LD veterans including 01010111 who went on to win LD32. There’s some great info here for sharpening your rapid prototyping skills. Worth watching for first timers as well as experienced jammers. We will be doing another similar panel at next years MAGFest in Feburary and a mock game jam, I hope to see some of you there!

We did a panel about game jams at MAGFest and the video just went up today!  There were some super talented and experienced panelists and we covered a lot of ground. There was a lot of audience interaction and interest. We talked about all aspects of the 48 game jam, from sleep schedules to art styles.

MAGFest was really fun too! I recommend checking it out. They put up nearly all the panels and a lot of the music on The MAGFest YouTube Page.

MAGFest Panel – How to make a game in 48 hours

I’m going to be hosting a panel at MAGFest called “How to make a game in 48 hours” and could use a few more people to be on the panel. We will be talking about developers experience, advice, and the impact of rapid prototyping competitions on the gaming community. Mostly I’m looking for people who have extensive game jam experience, are already going to MAGFest, and will be available to be on the panel at 8:30 Friday night.
