From Ludum Dare to Steam Greenlight!!

Hello fellow gamedevs,

we started working on our game “Of Carrots And Blood” almost a year ago at LD31. Back then it was a nice little prototype and a couple of you liked the gameplay and art style. So we thought, why not put more time in it and work on a post jam version with more features. We did that and finished a little game, which has been played by a couple of youtubers, including these two cool Brazilians (video here) and PewDiePie (video here) and we got even more positive feedback from people…That made us realize that maybe there is more to this little idea. We just couldn’t stop working on it 😉

So now we are at a point, where the old free version of the game became the “Classic Edition” and our new version for “Of Carrots And Blood” is now on Steam Greenlight!! 😀

After one week we are currently at 44% to the Top 100 and we need your support!

SUPPORT US ON STEAM GREENLIGHT!!

Of Carrots And Blood is a twin-stick arena shooter combining bullet hell with cute bunnies, mutants and a lot of blood.

You can play alone and compete for the HIGHSCORE.

You can play together in the local CO-OP and beat the short but intense “story mode”.

You can grab a couple of friend and kill each other in 4 player DEATHMATCH (or in the two other 2 player pvp modes)

AND you can play the multiplayer modes ONLINE!!

So if you like some good old arcade action, where you need to be on your toes all the time or die a lot, you should check out our game:

Hey guys,

we have been keeping you updated on new features for our game Of Carrots And Blood, which we started working on at LD31. Now PewDiePie played our game and we wrote a post on our blog about the impact on our emotions, downloads and sales.

Read the blog post here

Hey guys,

although we haven’t been able to participate in Ludum Dare this time we still would like to show you our last game, which would have been quite fitting for this theme…you are a bunny defending a giant carrot and killing mutants with, well, CARROTS! 😀 We have been working on our last LD31 Jam entry “Of Carrots And Blood” and we have released it on itch.io for free for Windows and Mac and it is also coming out on Desura soon. We have added powerups, different enemy types, a global highscore for the single player and we have also added a local 2 player Co-op mode (which is the most fun) with a big boss fight surprise in the end! So please check it out :)

And for those of you who already know the Jam version, it would be really cool, if you could compare the two versions and tell us here in the comments, if we applied your feedback for the better or worse 😉 More feedback much appreciated!

Swatch.

OMG I CANT BELIEVE I ACTUALLY POSTED A BLANK POST!!!

1

Okay so I realised with roughly 10 hours to go, that my work flow and my organisation needs serious work. My plan to do as much as i could in that time, boiled down after a minor crisis with the missus (everything is fine now but it was a close call).

Due to the encouragement (that one guy who shared a encouraging message during a dark moment), I will enter Swatch into the jam.

My last game was a whole other cookie,  Seeing as everything generated on one screen,  I entered this LD with a small amount of knowledge, Forgetting the work and items needed for a game like this. I have learnt a new lesson, And i will submit a semi finished project into the jam this time tomorrow.  More so out of pride and a want to share an idea which , I, was so excited about at first, but ultimately my drive and motivation was really lacking this time round.

Such an eye opener.

thanks for the support everyone.

13 hours left

Sunday, April 19th, 2015 6:14 am

1 2 3 4

So there are only 13 hours left, and im at a point in the game where I have almost lost hope.  The idea was so fleshed out , but as the hours whirled by i began to notice certain elements where i needed more thought,  Creating a puzzle game with blocks with no idea how these blocks are going to interact with one another.

I have 13 hours to try and make this game something more interesting and fun.  I doubt there is enough time at this point.  What to do what to do?

Making the soundtrack for the final version of  “AZOR”

After the awesome LD 31, I just released another track from Azor that could be used for the official release of the game. Check it out!

“A colourful journey into the deep of your soul.

It’s like an eternal spring.”

Glow Drop (LD31) has now levelled up to Glow Drop DX!

If you have an Android or a Windows 8.1 PC, you can now play the updated Glow Drop DX, with more power ups and stuff!

The original Glow Drop will remain on GameJolt as well as here, as it was made as a game jam submission and should remain here in its original glory, but if you want to try a bigger challenge on the go, then you should get Glow Drop DX.

New things in this version include:

  • Updated Music
  • Three new power ups
  • New Drop Shapes

I’m also planning on doing a Windows Phone 8.1 build as well, so keep an eye out for them.

I have now awarded trophies to the profiles of developers who’s games have made it into my Jam Favorite’s articles :)

Hope you like them! (Articles are linked below!)

Decided to do something a little different than my regular Ludum Coverage. That means giving the top overall ranking games in each category (Compo & 72hrs) some more LP love. Diving into some rogueish inspired Escape Character & The Street Artist Stylings of 90 Second Portrait.

Next on my Radar is the Top 2 in the Compo Category.

Thank you everyone, it has been a great Ludum Dare!

My results were far better than the other two LDs I’ve participated in. #111 in Theme and #193 in Innovation, that’s awesome and just gives me motivation to aim for the top 100 next time!

Ratings

As I participated in the jam this time, without a team and made all stuff myself as if it were for the compo, I think these results are pretty good. I made some nice stats below, comparing how I did my previous LDs:

Stat 1: Fixed Ranking

Top percent calculated as #Ranking divided by total entries for each LD compo/jam.

Stats ranking LD31 SK16 Games

Stat 2: Score

Just the raw score – 1 to 5 stars.
