It my first Ludum Dare experience

wish me luck!

Running solo for the 48 hours creating all the art, audio and code myself.

I am a full time 3D Graphic Artist for a games studio in Australia but recently in the last two months I have picked up teaching myself C# and Java for Unity.

The lead up for the game Jam has given me a goal to learn code fast in my spare hours , just in time for Ludum Dare 38

Art Software available:

3Ds Max

Substance Painter

Substance Designer

Photoshop CC

Procreate (Ipad Pro)

Game Engine: Unity 5

Language: C#

Editor: Visual Studio 2015

Music: GarageBand

First Time Here!

//lol I got confused and almost posted my game instead of a quick “hi!” XD My brother helped me with it tho//

//sorry if I do anything noob-ish, this is my first time doing anything remotely like this XD//

Yo! So, my brother found out about this game contest thing, and I really liked the theme (why are people complaining about “You are the monster”? It’s cool!!), so I thought I’d try to make something.

But, I’m entering the Jam, not the Compo ^^)\”

For one thing, I’m not very good with competitions, and for another, I’m using RPG Maker, which I’m kinda thinking wouldn’t be allowed in the Compo..? lol;;;

But it’s okay if I use it in the Jam, right?

I’m using:

RPG Maker VX Ace

Manga Studio

And, well, I only have one original sprite so far… and it’s really pretty obvious, it’s not as good a quality as the default sprites…

But I’m kinda proud that it actually looks like a TV XD (even if you can barely see the game system in front of it… XD)

Nooo, that's a TV XD //SHOT//

Don’t even know if I’m in or not… but I have music now.

It’s all I got, but it … may lead me to great things.
We’ll see.

Ludum Dare 27: The Long Road Ahead

It starts today.

After many wasted hours of telling myself that I will make a game, I am finally gearing up to take part in the Ludum Dare 27.

I’ve never made a game before, despite probably having the programming expertise with which to do it, so it will certainly be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Alright, this is the first Ludum Dare and I already know what game I’m going to make. What about the theme, you ask? That’s easy; I don’t need a theme, or rules, or reason. I’ve already come up with the best 48-hour game idea.

Check it… A dystopian future. Aliens are running amok being douches. You, a super bad-ass space warrior, have to stop them.

Bullets? Check.
Epic space battles? Check.
You, walking in slow motion towards the camera with unreasonably-large explosions behind you? Triple check.
Slightly creepy but adorable love story involving you, a computer, and a shotgun? Check.
Zombies? No. Get over it.

At the edge of your seats? Of course you are. Now sit back and enjoy the orgasmic cover art for the game.

That’s right, there’s a cover already. I know; you may feel all the jealousy. And, without further ado, here is the art that’s gonna blow your fuggin’ mind socket!

Wait for it…

Waaaaaiiiit for it.

Believe it folks! My game has won the Game of the Year Award, and I haven’t even started writing code for it. Believe it: the evolution of combat… and, um… halos… have begun.

Er…… why is everyone looking at me like that? You guys must be nervous of my totally-innovative idea………………. right?

In all seriousness, I can’t wait to participate and learn from this experience!

Hi everyone.

Well I woke up not long ago and have spent some time brainstorming around the theme. I think it’s one of those themes where you either take it literally as intended or do something very clever with it. Not being clever enough, my current idea is simply a vertical shooter where you collect defeated enemies and fire them back. Something I’ve not considered yet is where that cycle begins – but I’m sure I’ll work something out.

Good luck everybody!
