Day one done!

Space! Space-ships! Space-ship particles!

Not much so far, but I’m happy with what I’ve gotten done in a short amount of time.

So far: Parallax backgrounds, particles, movement and aiming.

To do: Asteroids, enemies, level boundaries, shapeshifting and more!

Whether we did loads or nothing today is hard to gauge because we’re a two man team working together online passing files to each other through Google Drive (which doesn’t sync as often as maybe it should). Nevertheless, we have a tileset for making basic levels, objects to put into rooms that act as cover, movement animations for the player and enemies, and, most crucially, a time-slowing mechanic!

Sleep now, but tomorrow will bring more animations, prettier level design, any level design, and the gamplay will hopefully start to come together as we refine the time slowing, add attacking and start to get a sense of how the game flows.

For now, here’s a screen of our test room. I absolutely promise you this will look more interesting eventually. Maybe one day I’ll learn to make gifs from screen capture but until then uninspiring stills is all you get:

So i haven’t made an “I’m in” post yet, so yeah… I’M IN!

I have have now worked for a bit over 12 hours on my game. right now it’s just some kind of place blocks/destroy blocks game, but I’ll make it so that you can mine things, and add resources as well.

Tools I use:

– Main program: Game Maker: Studio

– Graphics: Photoshop

– Sounds: sfxr/bfxr

– Nice tile program: GoTile

and perhaps some other stuff too…

Hiya again! We’ve decided on what we think is a pretty nifty concept: You only get one weapon in a first-person stealth game:

We’re pretty happy with this breakthrough, so we’re all going out for burgers at this In N Out that just opened today. This is a novelty for us ‘cuz we’re all native Texans!

We’re letting the interns hold down the ship while we gorge ourselves with really cheap thousand-island-dressing burgers:

Look at em go! They were so focused on getting the character models rigged up we didn’t have the heart to break them from their work. Trabaja duro, soldados!

Day #1 Done

Going to bed now. But I have a pretty good start for an awesome fun game.

Have the character in, he moves pretty well and is quite fun to fly around. The theme is accounted for. I have him dying and he’s able to move to other levels. (With cool transitions.)

In addition I’ve managed to add one “enemy” (he is a helpless guy who runs around).

Tomorrow I hope to have more challenging stuff and eventually build some levels. If I’m lucky I’ll get sound in.
