Hey everyone, we’ve submitted our game!
It’s been really fun working on this game, I haven’t done anything quite like this before (the jam).
Luckily I had friends to help with art (@rohan_narang15), and music (@Darth_Davroth).
If you enjoy twin-stick shooters, aliens gushing toxic ooze, giant fire breathing chickens, and dance parties, hurry on up and play! 😀
Please could you guys play/test our game, Mutant Chicken Death Jam?

Finally, you can witness the beauty of the chicken shape shifting… into a mutant chicken that burps fireballs!
We are getting close to the polishing phase. So far we have player death, combat, alien spawning, etc. All that’s really left is one more alien, the “shape shifting” mechanic where you step in toxic space ooze and mutate into a giant fire breathing chicken!! Oh, and the menu and stuff, but eh 😉
Here’s some early gameplay footage! We have plans for the “shape shifting”, so hold on to your butts! 😀
We’re making progress on our game!
The basic idea is that you’re a chicken in space, fighting off aliens with a fart (ray) gun. If you come into contact with some toxic space goo, you mutate (shape shift) into a giant fireball spitting chicken!
Here’s a screenshot of some early gameplay:
Hey!
We’re Norseware (Twitter), a small non-profit game development company. We’re fairly new, and are working on our first-to-be-released title. We thought that participating in Ludum Dare 35 would be a nice break from our current project, let’s hope so!
So far we have a programmer (me), and an artist (Rohan Narang). If you are great with sound, and/or music, let us know, we’d love to build our team!
As far as tools go, we’ll be using Unity/C# with some plugins we’ve designed to make things easier, like sprite tiling, WAV editing, etc. As far as actual game code, everything will be from scratch.
I’m not sure what Rohan will be using for art, but I’m guessing GIMP. If we can’t find a sound tech, I’ll be using SFXR/BFXR and Audacity for the sound, and music.
Best of luck to you all, we’re really excited!!
We are working on in our first game with pixel art look. It’s a infinite runner platformer that uses the two Themes of the Jam (Two Buttons Control and Growing).
You control a character with a double personality behavior: the Dino – Chicken (or Chicken – Dino, whatever…), running along in a Tribal Island. Can you make more points than your friends?
Hope you like it! (Soon)
Development Team
We decided to participate to create something cool and funny that involved all the team. We started with a chicken launching egg and the idea evolved to a crazy ambient with a cook that uses the  chicken as a weapon in a cathouse full of zombie girls. Then first, we did  the art of the scenary and the draws of the zombies girls and of the cook. Second, the cook and zombies were animated. After we programmed using the art created and  finally we put the sounds.
The history is simple. Mr. Banana is a cook that works in a cathouse doing the tits and pussies cakes. A night, the girls of the cathouse become zombies and alone in the middle of night, he uses the chicken that it was the dinner as weapon against the zombie girls to survive.
Cartoon 2D was chosen to represents the comic style of the game in top down view. To draw the art was utilized the Photoshop in the creation of the cook, zombies and objects and in the paint of the scenary. The Illustrator was also utilized to make the layout of the menu and a part of the kitchen.
The game is a 4-direccion survival game whose the goal is kill the  zombies using the chicken to shoot eggs . For each zombie girl dead the score increases. The cook moves in directional arrows and shoot in Space bar. He has three lifes and lost them every time that the zombies hit him. The problem in beginning  was that there was a point in screen that it permited to kill the zombies without moving and die. That was fixed and  the zombies became very fast and killed the cook easilly.
We used Constuct 2 because is a tool very fast and easy to develop the game and has everything necessary to creation of the mechanics. This technology is familiar to members and was utilized in other jams. It permits find bugs fast and correct them without much difficult. In the production of sound was used Sound Forge , Reaper and Fl Studio.
What we’ ve learned:Â
We learned that a good team work is essential to have a good idea and after get to develop it in a game.
Our entry to Ludum Dare 26, Bridge Crosser, has been turned into a larger project due to popular request.
The game now boasts over 15 levels, with new environments, better optimizations, and new features.

Lunch is over. On to phase TWO.
Time to get serious.
My pot pie has finally finished cooking. Luckily I had a few CheezIts so I didn’t collapse before it was ready:
After this hot meal on a dreary rainy day here south of Boston it’ll be back to work on the Angry Caverns.
