Some early progress

First progress post for LD31 -things are coming along ok (albeit a bit slowly). Hoping once I get some character control underway by later tonight, I’ll start gaining momentum and a bit more motivation. All going well, I might get the core mechanics done in the first 24 hours.

‘littleman’ will be one of the playable characters, he’s the first version, there should be a bunch of different types with any luck (including ‘littlewomen’ as well) These guys go about their business, but should be expecting to be rudely interrupted. They also wont ever exist in the ‘computer console room’ in those screenshots. Those are for a different area of the game entirely, and also the main focus for the theme – but for now its just a testing zone :)

In the past hour or two Ive gotten some initial animations done, in the next hour or so I should be getting into the process of setting up character controls in Unity

So here is an animation test of one of the characters. “What does he/she/it do” you ask? you’ll have to play the game to find out. To all the jammers, keep it up, we still got time. can’t wait to see some great games.

The night in south Brazil coming with cold wind. Our game is crawling to go out from under the covers, but we know it will come, games always come out to play

Our Hippster Cat Hero, named Neko,is learning to walk. And he is anxious to learning to fight!

Necronomicon have a logo, a hero and all night long to be done.

So I woke up 9 a.m., which granted me five magical hours of sleep, and SUDDENLY ART! This is the concept of the character, and then the sprites that will be used in the game. I’m not used with pixel art (or art at all), so I kept it simple.

I also did a crap background with a lot of photoshop and filters. I know it looks really artificial, but let’s pretend it will look better hidden by the other things (the playable part itself).

Quick update…I’m succumbing to the temptation to spend the weekend tarting up a non-game. Need gameplay, stat!

That said, I have prepared a handful of tools to help me get gameplay content in faster tomorrow, and I’m WAY ahead compared to my LD21 effort, “Fireflies”.

You may notice the character looks a bit like the one in Fireflies. That’s because blobby cartoon figures are really quick to model. He’s a bit more egg-shaped than the last one though.
