Depth Beneath – How deep does it go?

There’s a hatch they said. They never said why, they never said who. Just an ominous hatch, perhaps a pit lies below. Bottomless? You bet. Danger? Of course. Will you survive? Probably not. Is it worth it? Only the brave can know. Enter the Depth Beneath.

Hello all, armmimic and chenstopher here. This is our first Ludumdare both together and individually. Actually, to be truthful, this is the first game armmimic ever finished. We had a lot of fun figuring out what we were going for and how the endgame will look like. We were completely unprepared (aside from snacks) and armmimic had no idea how to use Unity. Three days and a combined total of 29 hours of sleep, (chenstopher slept half the amount armmimic did), we had a game. We hope you enjoy, the guns are super fun to use and the action keeps on coming. If you can, please let us know how far deep you went in the Depth Beneath!

chenstopher: Handled a lot of the code and all of the art.

armmimic: Handled the code and most of the sound.

… And my third LD is complete

This was a great LD for me this year. Regardless of where my game ranks, I had a ton of fun creating it and was very inspired. I’ve also now go the base of what it think could be a really great app that I’m going to explore.

I’m from the UK so LD started at 2am for me but I decided to sleep and start in the morning so I’d be fresh. Soon as I got up I checked the theme and within 5 minutes was coding. It was such an easy transition I got off to a flying start. Not like last year. I really wasn’t into last years theme and it reflected in the game.

I used GM:Studio’s physics engine for the first time during this project and learned it can do some really fun things so I’m looking forward to playing with that more.

You can check out my finished game here and here’s some screen shots. Hope you all had a good weekend and I look forward to playing and rating your games!

Have been looking forward to competing for the first time. Using Game Maker Studio, have made a decent start for the compo. Not entirely happy with it yet, but it’s getting there . Screen01
