Feels nice to have wrapped up my first Ludum Dare game. I got to incorporate a few ideas I’ve been mulling over, so it was a useful project outside of the scope of the event.

Beneath The Sea – Progress and Preview

Today I started developing a platform game, using tiles, physics and pixel art, but I figured out that was too complex and I could not finish until tomorrow. Thus, Beneath The Seais my plan B.

What is done:

  • Intro, Menu and Credits Scenes;
  • The basic mechanics, including enemy spawn, enemy moving, player moving and shooting, and collisions;
  • All sprites for monsters, ship, weapons, buttons, and background.

To do:

  • Weapon system (cooldown, spawn, ammunition, etc…);
  • Score system;
  • All UI indicators on Level Scene;
  • Game Over Scene;
  • Musics and SFX;
  • Minor adjusts;


There is a lot to do yet, but you can see some shots:

Well, I made a game of mining, where several enemies fall and begin to attack you (a snake, a spider and an elf) while you kill them or run away to dig the earth and make some items (gold, silver, bronze, banana? ) cava when all 25 squares which can dig the level you are releasing more falls 25 squares, so infinitely to their little hearts run out 5

It’s simple, my enemies only have the animation of falling, and I’ll put a walking and another to attack my character will have to attack, undermine and floor. I now lack only visually fix the system where the ground falls from rest is ok, but now I see a few animes and then sleep until tomorrow personnel and luck!

Have been looking forward to competing for the first time. Using Game Maker Studio, have made a decent start for the compo. Not entirely happy with it yet, but it’s getting there . Screen01
