Writing a HTML5 game in Python (almost)

Trying to participate again…

This time my goal, besides finishing a game, is to become familiar with Rapydscript .

Rapydscript is a subset of Python that transpiles to Javascript.

So I’m writing a HTML5 game in Python (almost) using Phaser. I’m creating a simple wrapper of Phaser for Rapydscript (Physer), so my game code passes the PEP8 and other Python tests…

This is how the game code looks like so far:

As you can see, besides the camel case in some methods (Phaser standard) it looks and feels like Python.

And this is how it looks so far:

You can try v0.001 here.

Good luck to all

I am behind but catching up.

First day over, I had to scrap my first idea because it was becoming too big.
Started over with this little puppy:

And got it ingame:

Was an interesting day since I also had to attend a birthday party. :)
I wish everyone good luck!

GTA progress

Here is an early progress screenshot of my game Galactic Toll Authority (GTA). The purpose of GTA is to manage gates that transport space ships via wormholes instantly to distant planets. You will have to find the best placement for your wormholes to maximize your toll collection and profits. You can direct the toll revenues into production of new worm hole gates, maintenance, and security.

I’m writing this in JavaScript using Phaser. I have used DrawPlus for the graphics when it’s not crashing.

Doing it a little differently with Morgan

Hi LD-ers! Our protagonist this time is Morgan. Nothing flashy or crazy…yet. 😉 The idea is that Morgan is dying and is struggling to stay positive and fight their disease. This hospital scene is the stage for the majority of *one* part of the game. The other part still needs to be designed and arted out, so that should be the more elaborate and interesting part of the game. Really trying to make the hospital scene look sterile and cold.

Kind of self conscious about this since it’s currently A LOT less impressive than previous games, and I’m counting on a lot of people not being impressed. But I’ve been waiting forever to find an opportunity to do this line-heavy illustration style, so I’ll have to say “screw it” and do what I like.

End of day 1

First screenshot finally (forgot to post because of a busy weekend), we are working on graphics at the moment.
Will be posting a new screenshot soon without programmer art.

Still need to think of a cool name, bad at names. :(

First screenshot!

Believe it or not, it's probably the prettiest game I've made.

Believe it or not, it’s probably the prettiest game I’ve made.

So far, basic mechanics, some graphics (player, first enemy, important buttons, walls), a few sounds, and a bit of the story are done. I’m having a bunch of fun, and I’m pretty happy with the game so far. I hope it at least turns out better than the awful chilli con carne, I just made for myself…

To-do: music (I’m working on that right now, using, more enemy graphics, more story, more sounds, and levels. But, uhmmm, I’ve got all Sunday, eh?

Hope you guys are enjoying yourselves, good winds to you.

Halfway Mark – Halfway Done? Nope.

Lots of work to do. LOTS!

Here’s the first screenshot from my game. I may not be able to get the different colors fully realized in the final version, unfortunately.

Everything is still a work in progress. Gotta add score stuff and ‘levels’ and win state and bla and bla.
Then music and sfx. UGH.

Then… other visual goodies.
