Arcade Style Footrace

by SomethinBoutGames - Mini LD Entry

Alternate 'D' and 'F' at a certain frequency to run and dodge the hurdles with the left and right arrow keys. Try to go as far as you can in 60 seconds.

All programming, art, music and sound effects done by me.

Sorry about missing the deadline, I had difficulties exporting from Godot as a first time user :/

Hint: the music helps with keeping the right rhythm for optimal acceleration.

I added a post jam version, improved using automatonvx's feedback :)

cool game, love the music! I think I got the hang of the timing eventually!

I think you are submitting with the 2nd API key but retrieving with the first one... you probably want to use just one :)

if you want any scores deleted, just let me know!

Pretty fun, reminds me of playing old games like decathlon on c64 where you had to move the joystick left and right as fast as you could to run. Destroyed so many joysticks that way. The alternating key equivalent actually works pretty well, and doing it as a rhythm game type of thing is also good. Combining it with holding other keys feels like it has some potential as a coordination challenge. On the downside I felt like i couldn't see far enough to actually dodge the hurdles so was just guessing. Also the music on the title screen (not in game) was distorting in a really unpleasant way that sounds like digital clipping to me, maybe just need to fix some levels somewhere. Good job

Thank you for the feedback automatonvx. I update the game, hopefully you'll enjoy this version a little more :)

@dollarone I didn't retrieve using a key at all, just by my ludum dare name. Now I requested a new key and used the game name to get the scores which seems to work. Is it supposed to work like that?
