by Zathnic - MiniLD 65 Entry

N-Zero is an atmospheric but challenging platformer with exploration aspects that was made over the course of two weeks, most of the work being done in the latter days. I overshot the deadline by a few days but I'm very happy with the end result, in the last few days I managed to add sound and design a big map (300 * 150 tiles). I hope that even though I submitted late some people will try this, I spent a lot of time on this and it's probably my biggest submission to the site so far!

In my childhood and youth I played a lot of obscure games, and when hearing the theme a very obscure one called "b-zero" was the first thing that came to my mind. Although it's just a small game and I didn't even play it much, I still remember it. The mechanics seemed like a nice thing to play around with, since I'm a fan of bouncy platformers in general (Nifflas) :)
You can see a video of b-zero here:

Quite the unique little game! I included it in my MiniLD #65 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :)

hmm I just get a black screen... is there a specific JRE version I'm supposed to have?

Hm, I had some problems with this in my last LD, I think I messed something up with my java version settings... I looked at this again and changed the folder of the JRE I was using, I may have been using the wrong one. Download it again and give it another try. I also tried running this on my laptop with only the newest java version installed, and for some reason the first time I started it I got a black screen, and after that it worked, so trying that might help too. Generally java version 7 or higher should be fine...

It works on a different computer, which has JRE7. This game is awesome, I'm glad it saves your progress because it's definitely difficult.

I also included your game in an article of my favorites, as well as added a trophy to your profile!
