Slaying the Heartworm

by Christina Nordlander - Mini LD 62 Entry

The theme of "final boss" felt quite interesting to me, since I work in text-based games, which don't lend themselves to twitchy controls or action-packed battles. So instead I decided to make a final boss battle in the form of an adventure game. The challenge is in figuring out where to strike.

Useful commands: "push", "pull", "take", "open", "attack X with sword", "turn on", "turn off". Move by typing compass directions plus up/down.

Can be downloaded and played on your computer with an z-code interpreter.

N, W, E = no can do.
S = can't
Word story is a interesting concept, but I find it impossible to guess which word does something. Take... take what? sword. Well, I have that. I'm not sure if its me or if the story needs more hints. Sure, I can do the walkthrough, but maybe the story could just hint at what I might be able to do. I do love the plot idea though!

@velvelajade: I probably should have done a lot more to accommodate people who are new to text adventures. (In case that sounds snooty, it's not intended to. I'm so used to this genre, I probably take a lot of things for granted.)

There isn't a lot to do in the first room. The only way to go is down the pit, so you need to find some way to climb down.

And thank you for playing!

Interesting game. I included it in part 2 of my Mini LD #62 compilation video series, if you’d like to check it out! https://youtu.be/SzdjTgjodQI
