4-Color Taxi

You are a cab driver! Get people to their destination and try not to wreck your car!

The goal is to get (atleast) 200 dollars from people within 2 minutes, this represents a vertical slice of a full game, this being only one of the levels in the game if it were complete.

To finish this I'd add more sound effects, some particle effects and a lot of different levels with varying difficulties through leveldesign and smaller time constraints/bigger cash goals.

Let me know what you think! Enough positive comments will get me to further development of this game!

This game was made in roughly 16 hours spread out over 3 days.

I spent most of my time trying to figure out where to go. It would be nice if there was an arrow pointing towards a potential customer and an arrow for the destination.

I figured that would make the game too easy though!

Very nice! I like you graphic and music style. Control is also so good. It's difficult to find a point where I should go. But I understand, if you will add help-arrows, it would be too easy.

Today I learned that I'm a horrible driver :)
I liked you music and graphics! I thought the game was pretty fun, I liked the controls too! Sometimes I could drive on the sidewalk, was that intentional? Overall good job!

Thanks man! Yeah there's no colliders on the sidewalks, only on the buildings! In the full game I might deduct money for knocking over trash cans or running over pedestrians or something. :D

I've been thinking, I might add dialog to the full game too, like make the passenger roughly indicate where he/she wants to go, I think it'll be fun! Any thoughts?

I think it's a great LD entry, but it you would really like to take it further you're going to have to put a lot more work into it. For instance if this was my game I would drop the time limit and make the car harder to control, then objective would be more based on your driving skills; getting X amount of money before you total your car. I mastered the controls in little under 15 minuets so the real challenge of the game for me was aimlessly driving till I found people, and when I finally beat the game it was because all the fares where close to each other. I know you don't want to add waypoints or something cheesy to the game to tell the player where to go and I respect that decision, but as a player I found it frustrating not knowing where to go. One suggestion would be to label the buildings like "Mall" then put a indicator where that the person wants to go, then it would be up to the player to remember the map to take them there. Finding fares should be as easy as a bunch show up on screen and you pick one, they would pay based on how fast you'd get them there.

I know it would seem like I dislike and bashing your game, but it's really the opposite. I like your game it's nicely polished, and is much better than games other entries I have played in the past. I think it could be successful as an app, but you have to work on engaging the player more. If you do decide on releasing on Android don't make the mistakes I did and not have all the art assets ready such as featured graphics, screenshots and icon. These things are things you want to be very very polished be release. It makes all the difference on whether it will be noticed or not. You should keep going with it the worst that can happen is nobody plays it. BTW I retweeted your twitter post but thought my comments would be better off here.


What I liked:
- Classic graphics
- Decent simple controls
- Amazing 8bit soundtrack
- Subtle details (ie: the car slowing down as it got more destroyed)
- Easy to know what to do from the start.
- Great start to a game.

What I didn't like:
- The time limit.
- Not knowing where to go.
- Wining the game is based on luck.

Thanks for your input drkrunk, I'm glad you liked it and appreciate you taking the time to write up a nice constructive criticism, I'm glad you didn't put this on twitter because it would've ended up taking up a lot of tweets or just being way too short.

I think I can communicate where the people want to go with a simple dialog system, it would make the game a lot more interesting I think.
The fact that you even took the time to play the game for 15 minutes to master the controls tells me that I might really have something cool here, and I'll definitely work on the game a lot more in the future to get it to a full release on Google Play.

Very nice game. Its' hard to know where to go, especially if you have a "client". As far as I know they usually very specific to where they want to go. Good thing you decide to do something about this. Good job.
