The goal of Astroid is to get down as low as possible while avoiding asteroids. By pressing the A button, the flying saucer goes right; otherwise, it goes left. The asteroid field becomes denser with time to make more exciting the game.

* Procedural generation of the asteroid field
* Increasing level of difficulty
* Score
* Vertical parallax srolling

Game development is not finished. It lacks audio, title screen and many other things... but it is playable!

You need to download a NES emulator for executing the NES rom of Astroid. Personally, I use fceux:

If you want to compile the source file, you need NESASM3:

Nice game! I'll definitely check out your source code to see how you handled scrolling and asteroid generation.

Wow nice, I like the faded planet background. It plays with a single key, kinda hard to keep stable, and the collision sometimes is unfair. But good graphics and explosions, hehe.

Really enjoy the graphics, but collision handling actually needs improvement :< also, sometimes there isn't enough space to squeeze the ship through. Nice idea for gameplay, engaging!

Aint it funny how the simplest concepts can hook you in? The graphics are definitely nice, and the explosion is particularly excellent. I know it's not easy working with the 6502, so good work on things like procedural asteroids, too.

Thank you for your kind comments. Collisions are clearly not pixel-perfect. Here the saucer and asteroids are just boxes... I really need more time and a lot of work for improving this point. Maybe I spent too much time on graphics (especially the explosion with its 14 frames:).

The game is cool, and just the fact it is hardly playable makes it even more retro!
