Raider of Tombs

by Tifu - Mini LD 50 Entry

2D Demake of Tomb Raider.

After the initial tutorial cave, the game becomes a 2D representation of 'The Lost Valley' level from Tomb Raider 1 (aka the best level in the game).

It's not as great as I wanted it to be, but it is all functional (well, hopefully) and you can complete the level etc.

A - Jump
S - perform action (shoot/use switch/button/select/down+S: pickup)
D - draw guns
Tab - open inventory

Even though I didn't code Lara's arms to move up or down, when you fire she does auto-aim up or down if the enemy is above or below you. If the enemy is stunned for a split second when it walks, then you shot it.

There is a bug sometimes where you can't climb up the craggly rock/ladder blocks, just jump off and back on and it should be fine.

(also I should say I went over the 48 hour period, and re-used some level editor code from my previous LD entry Samus Regrets)

hey cool game, I like the art but unfortunately I couldn't make it past the first level as I spent about 5 minutes trying to grab the ledge in the tutorial and gave up:C
I like the game very much but maybe the controls are a wee bit complicated? :)

It should just be "jump towards ledge, while holding right" that seems pretty standard for ledge grabbing in games, but if it aint working right for you then there are problems with it I guess =/

Probably the best game I've played so far of this LD. The idea of a "Tomb Raider" demake is excellent, the graphics are very pretty (those dinosaurs look amazing), and the game is simply huge and complex. I admit I haven't beaten it yet, though.

I'm not surprised to hear that you were the creator of "Samus Regrets": that was another incredibly polished and huge entry.

Excellent work!
