Voice of God

by tommakesgames - Mini LD 48 Entry

Web only interactive fiction.

Took the theme of deceit for a personal spin - "self-deceit".

A game about some aspects of have faith and losing it.

For this Ludum Dare I decided to give Twine a try. I've been wanting to make at least one 'game'/IF with it, and what better opportunity than a game jam?

This is really cool. It is not often that I like a text only game but I think you executed this well.

I don't have any personal experience with the dilemma of the protagonist in this story, and yet I found this extremely powerful. At the end, I was close to tears.

Very good writing (you use the repeating almost-identical passages to great effect), and great use of Twine codes. My only nitpick is a typo: at one point, it says "the close I get" (or something along those lines) when it should be "closer".

Excellent work.

English isn't my native language so I have to admit that I didn't understand everything, and it's kindda annoying cause I feel like I'm missing something.
But still, I really love the concept and how the ambience is set, great work.

Awesome - thanks for feedback people, especially the typo! I'll have to go change that!

Very well-executed and interesting. To me, it read nearly like an operatic aria, and I agree with Christina - the repeated "chorus" was very effective and served to highlight the increasingly frenetic "verses" inbetween (in some ways reminded me of "Gethsemene" from JCS -

Makes me want to ask lots of questions about your own experiences and history on the topic - look forward to your post-mortem!

Well Done.

I, on average, hate all expressions of religion. So as for content, this was very uninspiring and pointless to me. As for the presentation and style, use of links in text, I think it was really nice and innovative. I didn't feel like I had any possibility of affecting anything making the game experience sort of weak and unlike the rape-text adventure of LD28 where that was exactly the point. I fail to see it here. Might be I'm not understanding something due to my disposition in the question of the content. So to sum it up, I would really have liked to see the style and mechanics put to use in a way where I had a possibility to affect the outcome and where the content was something different. As for the text, there was a quite abrupt switch from "you" to "I" early on, but else language felt tight.
