Bad Bricks

by local minimum - Mini LD 48 Entry

Some bricks in the facade have gone rouge!
The usurpers have started whispering and infecting close by bricks with their bad ideas. As they progress, they become rowdy and loose all their supporting function.
The structural stability of the facade is at risk and you, my trusted mason must quickly identified the bad bricks, hammer them to pieces and put in new sound ones in before the building collapses.

You use the mouse.
Double click to smash.
Drag and drop for placing new bricks.

There's a tutorial level in the game. Unfortunately the skip button doesn't work so if you don't wanna try both levels (it works as a normal level) you just press escape to get back into the menu and press play again. It will only insist on showing the tutorial once.

As hinted, I only had time to make one level, but hopefully its difficulty is balanced enough. This should be treated as a sample game. With a little luck we'll make the whole campaign of going back in time through levels of age typical brick houses.

--- Update ---

I've made the game much more playable/breakable and fun in the post-dare version. Currently there's a UI glitch that I hope to fix soon.

--- Update 2 ---

UI glitch solved.

--- Update 3 ---

New Level added, better controls, better instructions in the tutorial, even more fun effects when loosing and an in game menu for replay, mute music and so on! Play it and let me know what you think.

It's bloody hard! (or maybe I'm just bad...)

A bit difficult. I couldn't always tell quite where the sound was coming from and it was nearly impossible on speakers. Gameplay was rock solid (like the bricks).

Good job!

Whoa, those bricks are kinda creepy. Never knew they had so much criminal energy in them... :) It's a good game, but really quite hard to tell which bricks are evil... I couldn't even finish the tutorial level! :)

I'm uploading an experimental version (can be found from link above) that has fixed more obvious and fun bricks. The double click will now also check that it is the same brick being clicked twice and not only if two clicks happened fast. It comes with an exaggerate UI glitch though. I don't know why the screen resolutions are doing this to me.

Haha very fun ;D The first version was VERY hard, didn't even complete a single level :P But the experimental version made the game easier, and much more fun ;D I think you should just use the experimental version as the main version, or at least have both links here on the LD post :)

I was about to say that I found no way to edit submissions here on this MiniLD but with a little url-hacking it wasn't hard. Glad you liked updates in the dev-version. Will try to fix the bugs with the UI soon. As of writing the entire site is down for unknown reasons.
