RubikBox

by anokta - Mini LD 48 Entry

Match your music-box to the playing beats by rotating the rows accordingly. Each row represents a single sequenced instrument.
Audio is essential, ears are must.
-
Theme 'scheme' is chosen and interpreted as a concept of 'patterns'.
-
ASDF and QWER are to rotate the rows - alternatively, 1234 can be used for one-sided rotation.
ENTER is to validate your match with the actual pattern (to pass the level basically).
-
Cheers.

Love the aesthetic, really great job. Personally I would turn it into a music creation app instead of a game. Lends itself very well to touch controls.

Hey, indeed nice job on the graphics.
I also like the handling of the pattern volume.
I think it might be worth experimenting more on the gameplay though. Nice job !

thanks. i tried to adapt my initial sequencer/toy version into a game on the last day, so i guess i had to push a little in terms of gameplay. being said, i plan to work and experiment more on the music generation part soon enough. :)

I like the style and the music, but the controls where a bit had as the layers where horizontally and the keys vertically... would have been easier with 1-2, q-w, a-s, z-x but even more so with mouse (and as said above touch). Also it is a bit annoying to be sent back to the first level on fail.

This was fun as a game and just to mess with. Enjoyed the graphics and the sound. I must say though, being sent back to the first level was a tad irritating. Otherwise, very nice.

Hard to control but very nice concept. I think you could try to experiment this further because there is definitely potential for a mobile / tablet app with touch controls !

Graphics are simple but very neat and appealing and puzzles are interesting. Being sent back to level one is frustrating though.

:O - excellent job, very personal graphics and sound! This should see an actual release!

thanks again all for the lovely feedback! for starters, i fixed the 'sent back to the first level' issue and updated the web link above. i didn't really put an effort on adding a new link for it, as i only changed a single line in the code basically. :) i suppose it's not a problem though, since there is no voting and all. besides, you can still access the original version through the windows build if you like.

that said, i plan to make a post jam version in the near future possibly alongside with a mobile release providing new mechanics/controls (touch?) when i get to find some time.

cheers
