In this game, you must succesfully lay an ambush on oncoming robot troops. Use the forest to hide your units and traps, and destroy the target with a successful attack. Place your units on the battlefield and try to destroy the enemy.
This is my first game in Ludum Dare, and the first game I ever completed. The game has some flaws, such as a weak AI and it isn't currently really chalenging or fun. I tried to make a rapid, level based RTS game, maybe I might develop it further in the future.
I designed the sprites, mostly influenced by the small characters on the 7drts banner. The music is taken from the Open Game Art Bundle: http://open.commonly.cc/

s there a way to trigger the bombs which I'm missing? If placed in the enemy path they just get shot and killed.
Sorry for not explaining that in the instructions. Bombs explode automatically when an enemy comes close. You have to hide them in the bushes or trees on the enemy path so that they won't notice it and the bomb doesn't get shot.
This game could get really cool if you would further develop it. I like the idea and enjoyed playing it.
An aggressive stance would have been nice, at first I didn't realize that you have to click on the next enemy to make sure they really attack everyone. And are the trees in the 3rd level supposed to be all over the street?
Yes, I might implement a stance feature, so that the player can control the behaviour without actually having to give orders. It's actually important for a game based on an "ambush".
I first intended to create a heavy forest in the third level, but then I decided to cut the screen in two halves, half of the level would be forested, in order to create a change, it would be boring if the whole game took place in a forest. I might also add more terrain types, which the player can benefit during the ambush.
Great idea! At first I thought this was a tower of defense kind of game, but it completely wasn't! Love your music. Bit disappointed that there were only 3 levels though. Would've liked to have seen you really play with this ambush concept. Sticky traps, nets, sequential bombs (for maximum effect). So much potential here!
Keep going with this please!
A good idea, but not exactly a new idea. You could turn it into something unique, but it would take a fair amount of work. Maybe if you gave it a medieval theme, ambushing knights and nobles, which would be far more unique then ANOTHER robot takeover. It could also use that as a plot. With that as a setting, you could setup archers to fire at an area on a command, and the rest of the raiders to charge out as they do so. Just some things to think about and improve.
I'm sorry, i didn't mean to copy another game. I'm not sure if it is completely original, to be honest, I just used the idea that came up to my mind without much research for similar games. Could give me a link or a name to the game so that I can check it out, before further developing, to avoid a similar situation?
Hmm... I like this style, but it's a bit weird that the pixels are not the same size on every sprite. Definitely offers some fun gameplay, and I hope you'll continue developing it!
@ntrstd11: I didn't say that it was similar to another game, I was saying that it was ANOTHER robot takeover. You know, how 15,000 people have done that now. That was all I was saying, and it's not entirely negative either. If done right, it could be very successful, but you really need to go the distance if you want it to work out without seeming ordinary and bland.

Very cool, and a great first attempt! A few bugs here and there, but it works :)
