Lakeside Stories

by - Mini LD 41 Entry

This is/was going to be a kind of interactive fiction in a lovecraftian dark gothic style, with hints of a collectible card game...
EDIT:
First small part of the story is now playable...

This looks really intruiging, until the moment you realize that clicking anything doesn't help. :( I know, it's not a lot until now, but please continue working on it! You got at least 8 more hours (CET). :)

Well, it says in the game that it doesn't do anything yet! :O
Maybe I can still put a bit of the story in...

So the buttons now do something... :)
As submisssions are still open, I'll keep on tweaking it a little bit!

So sad there is so little to explore :) Liked the graphics (although the mouse pointer was way to fast on my PC) and would have liked to follow a more interesting story-tree.

@timtipgames:
These things will come in time... :)

I muted the game because I was almost sure there was going to be a jumpscare :S

Very nice atmosphere. The sounds and graphics work very well.
Good font too.
Looks like a good base to expand upon.

I think it would be good to only show buttons that do something. At first I thought the pictures were containers for old saves or previous steps.

Thanks @Everybody for the comments!!!
So i guess what I did (set the atmosphere, create music, define graphic style) was okay, now I have to work out the story and add more detail, like for example have the falling pictures make some sense! :)
I'm still wondering about the jumpscares... There are none, should I add them or would that kill the mood ?!?

Please don't even think about adding jumpscares D: They do scare a lot and I don't think they're too cheap, but setting up a grim atmosphere where you always expect something to happen is far creepier. Let us imagine the horror ;)
