#ludumdare client

by Jorjon - Mini LD Entry

For the non-game category, I made an IRC client for #ludumdare channel. Still unfinished and rough, with some bugs, but I plan to finish it in the future.
First you have to setup your nickname on the starting screen. Then it will try to connect to #ludumdare. From there, press Enter to chat.
You can show the names of the chatters pressing N, and bring the console pressing F1 (to execute IRC commands).

NOTE ON RELEASE: The game can't be played on a browser, it is a problem related to flash sockets. I provide the only playable form at the moment: a zipped swf file. I'll work for the WebSockets option as soon as possible.

Hmmm. I really like this idea but I tried it a few times and couldn't get it to connect. After I entered my nickname, it said "connecting..." but never progressed. Nothing was being blocked by my firewall, and I turned on viewing of allowed packets to confirm at least that it did establish a connection to an afternet address on port 6667.

Yeah, it's a pity. The idea is very cool, but the connection just fails. I get this error after a minute or two:

TypeError: Error #1034: Typumwandlung fehlgeschlagen: kann nicht in SecurityError umgewandelt werden.
