Ready to play the groundskeeper?
I attempted to create a fast arcade game in 64x18 pixels, and I'm pretty pleased with the end result. I also took "Unimportant" as a literal theme, and that took me to the Groundskeeper concept. A seemingly unimportant job, but don't underestimate it ;)
Game is done in HTML5, and this time I took the time to make sure audio works in more then just Chrome (but use Chrome for best results!)
I did pre-scaling on the graphics, so altho they are in 64x18 resolution, they are scaled up to look good in your browser and not see the ugly anti-aliasing that browsers automatically do.
Have fun!

Cool little game, art works really well at the resolution too!

Nice art.
Runs good on Firefox.
Fun to play while listening to music.

No music.
Orangepascal, Master of HTML5, does it again. Congratulations : )
Cool! I racked up 36 points by standing to one side and holding down the shoot button facing the other way. Then one of those black things stopped my exploiting sneakiness. :)
Well done, this is really nice! I especially liked the effects and variety of enemies.
Can't seem to edit the original post.. sooooo:
Now also available on Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.orangepixel.groundskeeper
Good game, this needs music.
A description of the controls would be nice.

+ your game proves that 1D gaming (ok, sprites are 2d, but you can only go back and forth) can be fun after all
+ I like the lightning effect
- it would have been better if you had made it even wider
* add more enemy types, and the possibility to switch weapons (borrow some stuff from Super Crate Box)
