So, this is the very first time I participate here. Actually it is the first game I have taken this far to a relatively polished state without giving up way too early. Also, this is my first attempt at a game in a long while. So I just started off, from scratch, without any ideas, drawing tiles and slowly putting something together. Without any idea in particular, I tried to put my attention towards athmosphere. Actually I had no clue what the purpose of the game would be about 5 hours before finishing. I used a simple tile/blitter class I had written the day before I started with this, the rest is made from scratch in 48 hours, apart from the CC-licensed sound files.
Tools used: Flash Builder 4.5, TileStudio, Audacity.
Credits for soundfiles go to: Dan Oberbauer, LunarDrive, jaava73 and nigelcoop all from freesound.org.
There is at least one collision bug I am awarw of, but I don't have time to fix it ;)
The Game:
Necromancy 101
You're a young Neophyte in a magickal secret society. Your Demon Overlord has demanded souls and has sent you to the local cemetery for this purpose. You're on your own now...

Nice little game indeed. Running/jumping felt good and it looks nice, especially the rain.
Digging out ghosts is great idea, but little dissappointed those did not harm me at all, making it less horror... :(
...well, maybe because due to the end. No, I did not want to work for the evil - NOOOOO!!!! :D
Ran into a bug. :) If you jump to the left into a wall, you fall down below the ground. I fell right off the map.
Trying to get screenshot.

Ah, thank you Susan. That's exactly the bug I've been looking for. Can you reproduce it? I can't. :( If I could, I might be able to find out what's wrong...
I know I was trying to jump to the left, but I jumped straight into the wall instead.
- held down left arrow
- running into wall
- hit up arrow while still holding left arrow
- fell below floor

The rain and other ambiance create a great atmosphere. The game isn't terribly scary, but it is very charming!
Jumping led to a glitch on one of the rooftops (small building, cramped pit in the top with a ghost in it). I jumped and went through the floor. Kept jumping to get unstuck.
Thank you all for your comments. I think I found the bug, but I'll leave the files how I submitted them. It's really not very scary. I didn't have too great ideas about scaryness and just went ahead doing what I could think of. Platform basics kept me busy enough as you see ;)
Except for the falling-through-floors bug, this was really nice. Solid pixel platformer. The rain looked really nice, in particular. I liked how the level exposed me to the world's vocabulary before I had the tools to interact it.

Fun, short game. I like it very much, and the rain is great. As for the atmospherics, I'm not sure. It was nice though.
