Home Cat

by Feng - Jam Entry

Inspired by "AlleyCat" and "Don't Starve".

At home, not everyone is a person. As a "family member", first thing first, you have to find something to eat before starving.

WSAD/Arrows to control

Hold 'W' or 'UP Arrow Key' to catch the curtain, press repeatedly to climb upwards on the curtain.

Now I know what kind of experience is when catch mouse as a cat.
Inexplicable very refreshing. Fun 5/5.

Oh this poor cat, so hard for it to catch a mouse. (But so easy for a fish...). It keeps starving in nine of ten times when in such a situation.

Wow that was short, and the last level was just me jumping off the chair. The physics are also kind of broken and odd.

In that last level, the mouse did not reappear at all before the time ended. On the plus side, the game's respawn is very quick and the ground movement is smooth. The cat's sprite is cute and chunky, but the blue didn't really look suitable for the room. Some sound effects, music and more levels would have made a nice touch.

Took me a minute to realize I had to hide up for the mouse to return. Then about 8 tries before I got the timing right to drop down onto it.

Simple game, would've helped if there was a slight pause between days instead of instantly starting. Kept falling down off the chair because of that.

Art style is simple but kinda suits a simple game like this. Sound would've been helpful.

Really good. Short, but it is better such a nice little game than a long and boring one. Congrats.

Nice little game. I thought you had some cute little graphics. Adding a little sound might spruce this up to the next level!

Cute! It seemed pretty impossible to beat the level with the mouse, though. It ran away instantly and would not come back.

I love that you added climbing to the chair and curtains. Definitely makes the platforming more manageable and nice.

I liked that the mouse required some puzzle-solving (had to be off the ground to lure it out) but the Mouse level was still PRETTY TOUGH, and took several minutes. I had to drop from the chair; anywhere else, and the mouse would change direction before impact.

Note: A computer's reflexes are going to be way faster than a human! Give us humans a break and give the computer some lag-time in reading the situation and changing their behavior. Or just make the target move slower so we can make up for it!

I liked the visual storytelling in the background; as time goes on, the owner finds and leaves a partner, gets a stove, etc.

Also, though cats aren't human, I'd still call them People or Persons! They certainly have personality. :3
