Ludum Dare 37 — December 9th-11th, 2016 — Theme: One Room

Well, Mike ran in to problems getting working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.

Poultry, Please

by btwj_ - Compo Entry

I originally intended this to be a Papers, Please parody, about a (silly) dystopian future from a fast food restaurant. Of course, I ran out of time and so I'm left with a basic system without any story or audio. One room, in this case, was interpreted as being stuck working at the counter of a fast food restaurant.

Also, this is the first time I've used GameMaker - I got it from that Humble Bundle :)

Reall cute, but how do I open the employee manual? I have no idea how to make any of these burgers, they keep complaining. :P

Great work! I love being a jerk to customers. Want a double cheeseburger, don't have exact change? GET OUT MY RESTAURANT!

I was afraid it was another fast food simulator game but it's actually very good. Adding the change mechanic is a very nice idea. I especially love how you can chose to not put the money in the "bank" at the cost of forgetting how much every one has given

At first I thought it was too simple, trying to be too much like Papers Please, but the burger stacking and change mechanics were really well done and made for interesting gameplay.

Very solid entry!
Fun and funny with a awesome art.
Too bad you couldn't include some tunes and sound effects. That would be great. Nice job overall!

This was a very humorous game :). I did find it a little confusing at times but with some trial and error I made it through. sound aside, what you have here is really well done. Good Job!

Great work! Very challenging but fun. Book was a little hard to turn pages? some clicks didn't seem to work. The money aspect is interesting.

I found this game really difficult for some reason. I didn't really understand how the change mechanic worked, and it seemed like it took way too long to build food. Otherwise, it was pretty fun - I just wish I could figure out how to do better in it.

Visual style is really nice, the pixel art is really well done and the presentation, as a parody of "Papers, Please" really feels nice! :)

Building the lunches and satisfying the clients, or just making hell out of the buttons was really fun! Specially the burger assembly mechanic!

Miss the audio, but it didn't take the fun of the game! :)

Great work! :D

I do not know how people alone can make these games so pretty graphically, I love pixel art. Very good game, good work.

You've captured the style perfectly and it's definitely a concept that fits the theme very well. Would love to see this developed further personally, You had me at Poultry, please.
