Ludum Dare 37 — December 9th-11th, 2016 — Theme: One Room

Well, Mike ran in to problems getting working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.

Sidereal Lifters Corp

by LTyrosine - Jam Entry

As the newest rookie pilot in the Sidereal Lifters Corporation (TM), you are in the initial training missions of the famous StarLifter (TM) service ship. Inside the control room, you struggle to learn its controls in long boring missions. That's it, the game is about these long and boring missions =D

All game content made in 72 hours.

--- HOW TO PLAY ---

You control a pilot that controls a craft. Mouse look, WASD keys to walk inside vehicle room. Interaction with the StarLifter (TM) is done by clinking/dragging panel controls with the cursor (white cross at screen center). There are some more piloting instructions in missions brief.

-> When the vehicle lands on a platform, sometimes it bounces a little until it lands completely, after some seconds.

-> When retracting crane chain, watch if it attaches to the craft. If it happens, just stop the chain movement and wait it to stabilize or else it can hit the craft and send it to the ground.

I will try to fix these issues in post compo version.

Good luck!

This is super cool. The chain links look awesome. It's pretty hard to control and see what's going on, but maybe that's what you're going for. Wish I could continue my mission when I fail it. Super cool stuff man

This is sweet. It's challenging, but fun to play. You really nailed the flying mechanics. It's a really neat way to control the ship.

Those controls are really fun and intuitive. Easy to learn, but hard to master. It would be nice if right clicking on a control reset it to its resting position. And as BoneDaddy suggested, restarting the current mission instead of sending us back to level 1 would have kept me playing after failing training level 3. Still, super awesome flight system and chain mechanics!

That was cool! Nice job on the chains. They look cool and the physics are impressive as well. It made me unreasonably happy when my chains got tangled up.

Made me motion sick the moment I started playing... but the mechanics are fun and challenging enough to keep me playing! The downward camera is a nice touch and really helps the gameplay.

That was amusing!
And despite how clunky the concept would feel (two layers of interface to control something flying? *shivers*) it's surprisingly intuitive!

Whoa, this ship simulator is really well done actually! We realize that it is not as easy as it seems to pilot. Really liked it! The mood, the realism of the controls, the details (and in web!). A must play of this jam.
