Well, Mike ran in to problems getting ldjam.com working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.
Objective:
Fill in enough room without getting getting hit in the process
Controls:
*WASD/Arrows for movement
*R/Backspace to start/restart
*1/2/3 to switch difficulty (see bottom left of HUD)
*The minus and plus keys near backspace let you skip levels
*Escape for menu

Almost as good as Bortman... almost.
Seriously though, this is really good! I love this type of game.
Bortman was years ahead of its time, I'll never make something as good ever again. (Until I go back in time)
Wow, this is great! I absolutely love the music, what program did you use to create it?
Sadly the music is the only part I didn't make. Check the readme in the source for who made it.
Beautiful retro music in this remake of the venerable Qix.
Love the changes in music. Graphic is butter smooth and nice, chunky pixels.
Very interesting idea. I like how it gets super intense when a ball bounces off another ball and you're not sure if you'll make it or not. Music and colour palette was a bit schizo.
Was pretty tough! Must have been hard to take screenshots like those. Enjoyed the challenge though!
Fun game, reminds me of an old game I used to play on Win 95'. Nice use of music to show danger.
I love the gameplay.
Art could be better, but It's still fine.
Hate the music change when going from safety to hazard zone.
I started playing and I thought that it was strange that the orb never got faster, then I hit up.....
Really interesting concept, if its been done before, I haven't seen it often. It was a lot of fun. Thank you for submitting!
Good mechanics, I think I've seen a similar one in BULLY, but very fun indeed!
very lovely. very fun. well designed and good colors to look at while being very bad at this.
I could play this for a very long time. very fun mechanic, and the dynamic music was a great touch. Definitely got me in the mood. Loved it!
Even though the audio was not made by the developer, it was used very well. I like the idea of using different audio depending on whether you are on the outside wall or rushing across the game. It makes moving across the game's playing field even more exciting/intense.
I used to play an old game like this years ago, Really great use of the theme, and i really enjoyed playing it.
ps: Sorry about the keyboard :P
Nice game. Had lots of fun and I liked the retro graphics and sound. A small detail: perhaps a bit of "snap" to existing lines would have been great.
I really enjoyed it! It reminded me of a similar game I used to play on my TI84 calculator, forget what it was called. I think this is a well executed simple concept, which is to me what LD is all about. At first I thought it was somewhat easy to predict and plan ahead, but then I realized the enemies could collide at weird angles and throw off my perfect plan - I think that interaction between them adds a lot to the game, as well as the ability to backtrack lines - both features that were not in the TI84 version of the game I played. One quality of life change that I might have liked... I died a few times because I accidentally created a line right next to one I meant to be "riding," maybe if there was a more forgiving snap to the lines you've already created? Would also make navigation around the room a bit easier. Overall really fun entry though, would play again. Nice work!
For some reason the graphics are frozen solid on my shitty computer, odd. Other windowed gm games work fine. I can still hear the sounds but it's not much of an audio game.
Great stuff, dude. As a few others have mentioned, this is a style of game that's been around for ever, but you did a great job of it.
In particular, the difficulty progression seemed really well done.
Okay, that was hard as hell. At first I went at 3 difficulty and that attitude lasted me until midgame.
Fun as hell though, I can't believe I've been at it for like 3 hours or so.
One of my favourites games so far :) great idea and gamepley.
This game was very fun! Enjoyed playing another game of yours on the Moosen stream. It was pleasantly difficult and controlled really well.
Very fun. My roommate got really nervous whenever I got too close to dying. Art was exactly what it needed to be, and I loved how the music changed when you tried to cross: worked both as an indication of what you were doing and to increase the tension. High marks from me!
Nice one!
Works well and has a nice mood (probably because the audio fits so well to the minimalistic graphics style).
Pretty cool old-school game. I liked the new ball types that made the formula more fresh. On the other hand, I'm not entirely sure I'm a fan of the line-generating and following ship controls. They're pretty fickle. I often started ending up making lines when the original intention was to merely move around.
@batmanasb The king has been dethroned, I am the creator of Bortman now.

divide and conquer, loved it! NICE JOB!
