Well, Mike ran in to problems getting ldjam.com working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.
Roomba Fight Club is a third person vehicular combat game on a very small scale. Armed with only a Roomba with a knife glued to it, attempt to pop all of your opponent's balloons before they pop yours.
Controls:
A -Turn left
D - Turn right
w - Move forward
S - Move in reverse
R - Take screenshot
Note: It's possible to play locally against a second player, but it requires a game-pad for player 2. This mode has not been tested as thoroughly as single player so if it breaks I apologize. If you are using a dual Shock 4 controller you'll need to download DS4Windows.
Tools Used:
-Unreal Engine
-Bosca Ceoil
-Blender
-bfxr
-Audacity
-Krita

Fun, but I really wanted more to do. Maybe a jump and some vertical platforms for a "death from above" kind of mechanic. Overall though, I had fun playing it, even if it was for only a few minutes. LD needs more confetti balloons! =)
Really fun, I also see it having a lot of potential as a multiplayer game. Great job!
Today I found out that roombas can flip couches. The AI is a challenging opponent, but I found that the controls were as well. A combination of slow turning and hyper acceleration has interesting consequences. On a brighter note, I really liked the game's use of music. It makes landing or taking a hit seem more significant.
This is a fun little game under Unreal. I had fun playing it ++
A nice concept well presented though the controls seemed a little janky to me.
that was more fun than it shoud have been :) For some addons it whous be fine if you can implement some more AI bots so you choud play aganst 7 in al everyone aganst everyone or with your freind in a 2v2v2v2 coop battle.
Of corse other things like a small ramdomiser that gives every round a small ramdom twist like an extra balloon or bigger and easyer to hit baloons or the balloons at differen locations or even putting the knifeat diffenet positions whoud bbe fine if you can turn it on and off.
Ahahah, did I just play to some Mario kart fans vacuum bot game ? :D
It was funny, graphics are nice, maybe the furnitures are lacking a bit of consistence but it is nice beeing able to destroy some elements. :)
I took the try not to mess the house up seriously initially, but first round my opponent spawn on the couch; roombas must weigh a ton 'cause that couch went flying. After that it just made sense to trash the place. Getting the computer was surprisingly hard, as it's really difficult to sneak behind it. Other than that, cool game in general, though I was only able to play the single player game. IF I can get over and see my brother we may try the two player version.
At first I was worried it'd be like a weaker Mario Kart battle mode, but you have a few things that differentiate from it. First off the room setting is unique. It's kinda like playing the Army Men games, where just by being in a house setting it transforms the experience. And then you have the furniture flying around which is just hilarious, nice job.
That was really fun! really wacky how the baloons threw all the furnature
That was a fun game! Great work for 48 hours! Exciting pop and slow-motion.
Roombas unite! Game looked great. Loved the slow-mo when I got hit to tell me exactly how much I messed up :P
Personally feel like the background music doesn't fit, but it's a cool game~ I had fun~
Haha we seem to made enough roomba games for roomba themed jam:D
liked the idea, the controls felt a bit weird, (i was playing with a gamepad) the slo mo threw me off a bit at first also. but for 48 hours, not bad at all.
This is a fun game! I love that you have two player option will surely play again with my mates! I like how you can destroy almost everything in the game. The control of the roomba was ok. The audio goes well with the game. Like how when the balloons pop there is a slow motion which is excellent. Overall a really fun game to play. Keep it up!
Played this 2-player local. One room multiplayer in one room with two roombas! Controls were a little awkward, but was kind of fun, especially when we started bumping furniture around.
It made me laugh that the second rule of roomba fight club was different than the first.
It's clear who gets the point based on hit location, which is really cool great natural visual indicators of health and damage area. Good player expectations are fun.
Great fun - reminds me of the Mario Kart balloon mode! Well done :D
In single mode i was feeling like playing online game with large lags enemy teleported from spot to spot
I love it! Really funny! I can see this being a fantastic party game given more work with it. Great stuff! :D
Impressive graphics, very original idea! You respect the theme.
Nice game but a bit clumsy controls. Fun and probably even more fun in multiplayer.
Fun little game. The computer doesn't have a turn rate in single player. So he can do a 180 and stab you cause the computer cheats!!
Cool concept! The movement really feels like a roomba. The AI is kind of strange, as it does not move at the same speed as the player, and can turn instantly.
Ha! Conceptually this is my favorite thing so far. I wish I'd gotten to play it 2 player.
Pros:
-Perfect concept for the One Room theme
-I love that you made the room so destructible. It highlights the absurdity of two Roombas with balloons battling each other-- not only is that funny but then also by the end the room looks like a hurricane came through.
-Fun as hell
Cons
-It feels a little uncertain as to who will win a head on collision
Suggestions:
If you had made a little ending where the roombas owners come in and see the destroyed house that'd be great.
Cool idea. I'd like to see you continue work on this, add more jumping or other mechanics to make it more interesting!
Funny game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 37 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/YS39t7Fdzo0

This is a fun little game. I could see this being a great "couch co-op" style of game.
