Mouse House

Hello everyone!

Before I start rambling about the game, I just have to say that I had a great time making this game with my brother on Ludum Dare 37. We made it in 2 days and I think it's the best game we've ever made.

Now I'll tell you a little bit about the game. In Mouse House, you play as a mouse that is trying to get from one side of the room to the other while it's being chased by a cat.

It sounds simple, but you will have a fun time playing it :)

Very stylish, fun despite simple gameplay. Cat is creepy and has a weirdly human face in some frames.

Nice art and screen effect, what I didn't like was the camera following too slow if you fall down from somewhere and I think it would be nice to have some kind of indicator of where the cat is or how much of the room is left till the finish line.

Thumbs up though, nice job!

Really neat little package that fares well enough on execution but not enough on game design.

> The camera follow is too slow. Sometimes you'd fall off the screen AND can't see the ground coming up and that's pretty bad in a game about anticipating what's ahead.
> Thematically speaking... Mouse traps would be pretty much a dead stop. When I didn't stop I pretty much assumed it was a bug. Maybe find something else to stop you with.
> Related to the above, obstacles didn't look like obstacles. I was never sure what I was going to hit and what I wasn't going to. More visual language and clarity would be good.
> Had no idea that the cat was going to hit me, and that took away a lot of the game's feeling. Not knowing your "progress" made it less interesting. Less tension.

The Linux build doesn't seem to boot no matter what I do to it. I can't run the windows build on wine either, since it requires DirectX. I know in the past I've had issues with Unity because of a space in the filename, though I can't say if that's what's happening here. The screenshots look compelling, just wish I could play it.

Camera smoothing made me feel quite nauseous (but I think i'm just extra sensitive to motion sickness). Would have preferred a static anchored camera. Also wasn't particularly challenging (unless i'm missing something?). Like the music!

The graphics style and music fits really well with the mood. However, the cat catches me before the camera does.

Graphics are good, and that film grain effect I noticed. music was good and it was pretty fun although short, I think I beat the game in one minute after failing a few times. Like spacerelated said the camera pans slowly.

Very nice presentation, the washed out brown colors and image grain gave it a very classy and vintage feeling. Gameplay works perfectly, was able to get much further with a few repetitions. Maybe it would be a good idea to put a cat distance indicator, so you get to know when it is getting near. Music works really well too. Congrats!

I totally loved the style and the muted color palette. Really nice. I would suggest to make the jump tighter (use forcemode impulse in Unity) and fix the camera issues. All in all, very cute simple game!

Nice music and visuals! The gameplay was a little confusing because at times it was hard to see where the ground was. I liked the cat!

Simple but enjoyable, also cute name. :)

The camera followed the mouse too slow few times, but it's not the showstopper.
