Well, Mike ran in to problems getting ldjam.com working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.
Emily has been confined to her room. But only in this reality!

Hey this game is HARD. Particulary the guys with halberds. I figure movement speed x2 is best for them, but man it was tough. This is a really polished game. i like the setting - reminds me of Keen Dreams. Great work.
I really like how the music changes to adapt to the stage Emily is in.
I really do love 2D beat 'em ups, it's probably my favorite genre of video game.
The feeling is nice, it has quite a nice polish. Music is cool, so are the graphics.
Awesome entry, guys!
Different levels, each one with its own art and music, that's impressive!
Nice, the mechanics are well implemented. Love those graphics and animations. I think some graphical feedback when you hit the enemy with the sword would be nice. Good work, keep going!
Nice work. The level themes are cool, and the music was great. But damn those executioners are a pain. Anyway, this game is pretty awesome.
Great game, I loved playing it! This take on the theme really resonated with me. The graphics and audio were really good. The controls were not as responsive as I might have liked and giving the second enemies the ability to shoot long range seemed a little early. Nice job!
I loved the animations and the game play. It was very much fun. Thank you for the game!
Really nice sprites and animations. I played even to see next level with next background. I liked that player could evolve after every level. Nice music, too. Fun game.
this game has some really nice potential. I liked the little girl :)
Awesome! Go Emily!
I love how "Bravery" is the measure of success, and failure comes from getting too scared. Well done.
Emily rocks! Had a lot of fun playing this one, there's so much content for a LD game in here! Controls work perfectly and it's really cool that you have an upgrade system. Really keeps you wanting to play more and more just to become even more badass. Ragdoll physics for the enemies work pretty well, opening fun situations. As a suggestion, maybe the game would benefit from some screenshake and/or particles when crushing an enemy, to intensify the feedback. A really well done game, lots of variety and pure hack n slash fun in a pretty atmosphere with a great protagonist. Congratulations on this!
i really liked the way you presented the game. a sweet girl vrs nightmare monsters. loved the details, the enemies. the wooden sword was cool. the audio was good and the background music. it was a really awesome entry. congrats.
Yikes, those aliens with laser blasters are brutal. If only Emily had long-range attacks, I would have felt the game was being more fair. As it is, it feels like the game goes from easy to hard very, very quickly. Would have been nice if it was possible to choose multiple upgrades instead of just one.
I liked this. Nice idea, fun little game. A little more variety in the player's attacks would have been nice. Or at least let me move while swinging, or make the attack time shorter so it feels a little more responsive.
so cute! and I love how you never really die. Just run out of bravery :)
Hey Nathan! Nice job, liked the balancing and the variety of enemies. I tried for ages but couldn't find a winning strategy eventually, the executioners would keep wrecking me unless I increased health but then I can't dodge the aliens very well :p .
But, cool idea, nice one.
As a fan of ragdoll physics, you got my thumbs up. The collisions seemed a little off (took hits when I was in a higher "z" and shouldn't be hit, IMO).
Fun little game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 37 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/gkZsQxjDEm8

Oooh those art are so shiny! Simple and fun mechanics, it must feels nice to have an upgrade system implemented in the small amount of time! Great job, guys!
