Well, Mike ran in to problems getting ldjam.com working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.

One Roomba

by KevinWorkman - Compo Entry

I'm in the middle of moving across country, and I don't have a computer right now. So this game was programmed entirely on my 5+ year old phone. Not an ideal development environment (never thought I'd miss compiler errors), but a chef works with whatever ingredients he has in his kitchen.

Anyway, you're One Roomba (because circles are easy to draw) navigating a world full of red obstacles and existential dread.

Tap or click once to charge, again to go. Get to the green, avoid the red, you know the drill.

It's on CodePen, but changing the code isn't part of the game. Feel free to mess around though.

The game is pretty short and won't win any awards, but I'm just happy to have an entry despite not having a computer!

Mobile users: this game should work fine for you, but you might have to click the "request desktop version" setting or the ".25x" button to see the game screen.

Quite an interesting concept, but the UI kinda disturbs the flow of the game. Good effort!

You know, for a game that you made on your phone, with no graphics or sounds to speak of, this is damn well fun.

I really felt the pressure to dodge the red balls going my way, and getting the clicks just right was exciting.

Well done!

Fun take on the theme, and damn impressive making a game in codepen on your phone! That takes some serious grit, I'm sure you ran into frustrations. The game doesn't stay too long, but there's potential for expansion with bouncing off of walls etc. The twist at the end made me smile. Great job!

Very interesting game. For backup plan this is very impressive wish it were your main plans so it would've had bit more polish!

I like minimal design, and this one is a really neat example for this. Your game is quite a lot of fun because it makes great use of fun core mechanic and clear, redabable escalating challenge.
Very well done and super impressive doing this on your phone.

My final score: 39.
But dude, no computer is a super hardcore and determined, mind blown.

It seriously takes a lot of effort to code a game with just your phone, fantastic job!

The game itself is fun, using its core mechanic very well. Never thought I'd see a game about a setient Roomba wondering its purpose!

Gameplay was easy to understand. I liked the personality that the dialog added to the otherwise "just harder levels" progression. Just the right amount of challenge! And I thought the ending was pretty cute. It's amazing that you worked on this on your phone! Extra applause just for that. Well done!
