Well, Mike ran in to problems getting ldjam.com working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.

Faster Chef

by EverlessDrop41 - Jam Entry

ABOUT:

You are a chef in a demanding restaurant

Cook your food, and don't let too many orders pile up.

DEVELOPMENT NOTE:

I am very aware that this is very bare-bones but if I had more time/energy I'd definitely add more and I do hope to make this a fuller game

This game was made solo in 72 hours for Ludum Dare 37 (Theme One Room). I was pretty busy during the weekend and spent most of Monday at school so it's not got as much content as I'd like

TOOLS USED:

- Unity (Engine)

- Aseprite (Art)

- Visual Studio 2015 CE and Mono Develop (Programming)

- Git (Source Control)

Instructions/Controls:

Escape/P: Pause Game
I: Open ingredients panel
A/D/Left Arrow/Right Arrow: Move Left/Right

In the game orders for food come in every 10 seconds, you must not let the orders pile up above 5. To complete the orders you must 'buy' (no money system yet) ingredients, patties for burgers need to be cooked. To make a meal you must use the 'maker 1s' (MK1), you put the food in at the top and when all the right ingredients are added you get the food, to finish it as an order you put it through the vent.

Holy difficulty.

I wish it'd come with instructions.
Eventually figured out how to open the supplies menu, then that I had to cook the meat and drag the supplies to the burger output.

I'm not very good at these kinds of games, so maybe it's just me.

I couldn't seem to move after opening the buy menu, I had to pause and then unpause to fix it.

I wish the food wouldn't rotate when i drop it.

Ordering burgers was my favorite part :)

I'm not sure that I figured it out. Running on a Mac, and I tried a bunch of different resolutions, and it seemed like some things were cut off on the sides. I did serve one salad though!

It started off a little fiddly, but with your instructions above I managed to make the salads and burgers without much difficulty. It's a shame you only got two food types in, and that there didn't seem to be a reward. I can see what you were going for though.

Not sure I really liked having to scroll left and right. The difficulty should probably be in managing several orders at a time, rather than awkwardly moving left to right and back.

Graphics were simple but there is a clear aesthetic that made me wish there was more of a kitchen to see.

I'd say, continue this post-LD because it seems fun at its core.

Good concept, just needs some more content.

The concept is quite nice, but the difficulty level is just too high, having to scroll, purchase, make and deliver. :P

Graphics are simple, but nice, though I think that more stuff, to make it feel more like a kitchen, would be nicer. :)
