Well, Mike ran in to problems getting working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.

Meth Horse

by morrilet - Jam Entry

Story: Meth Horse loves his meth. That's implied, of course. But that's not really his problem. That's his therapist's problem. No, Meth Horse's problem is his meth pregnancy. For you see, seahorses give birth to thousands of children at once, and he has to put every one of them through university! Well, only if he recognizes them as legitimate, that is. So this is how it must be. Meth Horse must avoid contacting his children at all costs. Meth is already expensive enough on its own. He is determined not to pay for their tuition.

Controls: 'WASD' or Arrow Keys to move.

Gameplay: Pressing forward will birth a meth baby. This is how Meth Horse propels himself, as he has only a tiny flipper and cannot properly swim on his own. Poor Meth Horse.

Very Funny Game! You have to dodge your children by producing more children. Enjoyed it!

The gameplay is interesting and hard, it is an interesting balance between risk and reward. My only complaint is that the stages are way too short because you can't really expect to survive too long. The story is wacky, maybe a little too weird!

Loved this game!. Very simple with nice controls and OH man! This game has the most awesome story of all the games I have seen on this Ludum Dare! Meth Horse is just ... perfect!
On a more technical side .. you are using an old version of Unity that creates "player_win_x86.pdb" and "player_win_x86_s.pdb" on windows build. This 2 files are not needed to run the game so you could have this game with half the size!
Anyway .. congratz!

So, the more you move, the more challenge you create?
That's quite a funny concept!

Except for, well, I thought that maybe the walls were supposed to kill you or something. I went to the lower left corner and spammed meth out of myself without being punished.

Thanks for the fun anyways! :)

Unfortunately, the speed was very off. I tap a or d and he spins violently, and w or s, he propels clear offscreen :(. Windows version, on Win 10. Pretty amusing concept at least!

Super funny game. Would play again. Could tuck away almost 20,000 before acknowledging a baby.

Who provided the meth during development?

Managed to get 15.800 points :D The story was nicely out of the common tropes! Many games either lack challenge or give too much of a challenge it is nice to have a game where you create the challenge yourself.

@banana4life Meth Horse himself was kind enough to share with us throughout development. He's a really nice guy if you're not one of his kids.

Nice gameplay and storyline. Was fun )

Solid game. I accidentally broke it by producing a lot of babies in a short amount of time right at the beginning, which sent me off the screen. I was constantly earning money by not doing anything, and I had to close the game to restart inside the room. Other than that, love it. Weird story but interesting and fun gameplay concept.

Loved how the gameplay mechanics are based on how seahorses give birth plus how you've actually combined it with an absurd but hilarious backstory. Also I like how well the risk/reward mechanics are balanced (more illegitimate kids = more money but harder to avoid)
