Ludum Dare 37 — December 9th-11th, 2016 — Theme: One Room

Well, Mike ran in to problems getting ldjam.com working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.

Hyperspeed Farmer

by jacksmack - Compo Entry

You are a corporate space explorer who is in a space ship that was engineered to save money. Unfortunately a decimal point got put in the wrong spot and instead of having 10 hours of life support a day you are limited to 10 seconds.

Hurry and run your ship, power your turbine and get to your destination.

I was going for a frantic farming game since I haven't seen one before.

Really nice idea. It took me a while to understand, but after the research and planting as fast as possible I could finish... or so I thought, because after the progress went to the final destination, after some spins on the crank I go a crash. Other than that, had a lot of fun playing you game. Thank you.

Bonus: Here is the crash, enjoy :P

Thanks for giving me the crash text. I'm still learning Gamemaker so I'm not entirely sure what it means. I've never gotten this particular crash.

The backstory sold it for me. Good job. The graphics and/or lack of text made it hard to understand what was going on at first, but after I figured out what everything does the game became fun. Died a couple times, but progress or research didn't reset. Got to the end but nothing happened. Good idea though!

I like the audio, it really fit the environment.

Interesting. I could never figure out what the orange thing in the upper right and the white bar at the bottom were. I did seem to make it to the end ("progress" filled up), though it didn't seem to end. On my first few lives it took me quite a while to figure out what to do when the alarms start sounding (didn't know I could click on the door). I had fun for a while, though got bored after I got the hang of it and researched everything.

Interesting premise for a game. I like the art, good job. Also, I don't know if it's possible in GMS2, but it's nicer to export as an executable / zip rather than an installer.
