Well, Mike ran in to problems getting ldjam.com working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.
I ran into design issues and had a lot of trouble finishing the game. I managed to do so in the end though. If you find any bugs, please let me know.
Thanks for playing!
Controls:
Move and aim with left and right arrow keys
Jump with X
Charge up boomerang throw with C
The longer you hold, the more powerful throw
While charging up the game goes in slowmo
I'm probably going to work on a post jam version later.
Linux and Mac versions are coming.

I liked playing this game! It was fun and I really liked the boomerang, it was an interesting idea and really worked to the game's strengths!
The only thing that slightly bugged me was that the character seemed a tad slow.
Lovely art!
I liked how you called the green things green things :D
Also, screen effects!
Kind of confused what "saving" meant in the context of the green things. There mostly seemed to be different ways of killing them. But solid otherwise.
Really like the way the boomerang works and I have to agree with other people about the AWESOME slow motion effect.
I didn't like the controls that much. A better solution would have been WASD to move and left mouse click to throw boomerang in the mouse direction. Besides that a great game!
I really enjoyed the game! The character was a little slow but the effects were great and the game play was fun!
Great work :)
Unique concept. Fun to play. I agree that you should continue to work on this.
Really nice little game!
I liked the graphics and the idea. I think you could improve the responsiveness of the character. It was really hard for me to control it.
Overall really good job!
super fun action-platformer, reminded me of the original mario games where you'd play 1v1 in a similar room with turtle shells and ennemies. Loved the fluid animations and difficulty. Got to 17 :) Well done!
Simple and attractive. Enough challange to play again and again and again until you beat your record. With good reaction you could last forever in some sweet spots =)
Wow it was intense. I tried to find a sweet spot and I kind of managed but it was still hard for me to get past 15. Graphics and sound could use some work but otherwise it's a nice weapon mechanic. Reminded me of Titan Souls :)
Cute visuals, I love boomerangs, and the boomerang mechanic in this was programmed very nicely. Cool game, gonna save it for later.
Great take on a classic concept! The idea of having to pick up your boomerang is a cool thing; the game is hard, but good work!
Dang, this game is tough! I enjoyed it though. :D I think a game of this difficulty could do without the fadeouts in between replays. A quick respawn adds more incentive to try again and again!
I dig the sound design, and I really like how the enemies can jump and the challenge is retrieving your one boomerang. Not really sure how decimating the enemy with a weapon "saves" them though. :P
Also maybe it could use more pickups for health replenishing or just more health in general? It would allow for a little longer playtime, since there doesn't seem to be any temporary invincibility after death.

Cool game, art is nice, especially the particles. Would have been nice if falling in the fire only took off one life and then re spawned the player rather than just instantly making you lose the game

I like the concept of this game and i think you should continue working with this! The slow motion effect was really well done and so was the screenshake and blood particles.
