Ludum Dare 37 — December 9th-11th, 2016 — Theme: One Room

Well, Mike ran in to problems getting working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.

The last one standing

Hi !
About the game... :)

This game have been designed to be played with the "Game O Verre" game controller, it's a set of cups that detect when you are touching you cup and when you drink on it. More info here (you can also sign up if you interested by a crowdfunding) :
If you want to build a copy of it in order to test the game you can, it's open source !

For now the gameplay is not yet developed, I focused on making all the animations and event detection in a proper way.

The only thing to do is to take your cup on the right moment then drink it. In future version I will add sounds effects and more "challenges". I'd like to succeed making a game similar to "Rhythm Fever" but with glasses !

For now the game is clearly not finished but I continue working on it.
It is my first game with GameMaker and I'm quite satisfied of it. I lost a lot of time in the character rigging and animating but I now have some nice assets I can animate and adapt for others projects.

Just need more time and method to make this as I'd like to.

I will make a post jam "finished" version before Christmas and I'll try to make soon some gameplay videos with the Game O Verre with and export an HTML 5 version too.

Happy judging !

Playing on keyboard is kind of bland, but I like the idea. I'm sure is much funnier with the device! Keep up!

Seems like this would be a great party game, and that controller set-up looks like a hilariously good time. The game in its current state is pretty bland, but I can see what you were going for. I think going fully 2d probably would have let you take this as far as you wanted in the time given :]

I wish you had a video of it being played with the preferred controller, so players could get a better idea of what it looks like as its best version. It seems like it would be really fun to play with a group of people.

The idea is good but couldn't play it smoothly on pc. I could never grab a drink and didn't understand the effect of drinking.

Fun idea, not well executed. It left me very confused as what to do. But we all have to start somewhere! Keep making games and I'm sure you'll be fine!

Models and animation looks good, but I'm not sure what you are supposed to do in the game. Pressing the buttons while the glass passes by makes the character drink it (not sure if that does anything else). Maybe giving points to the player when you manage to press the button in the right time would be good. Overall, decent graphics but gameplay needs some work.

Awesome the idea of an external controller!

I really like the idea of alternative controllers for games and so I would assume it makes much more sense there. I would imagine it will be a bit unfair as the layout is now for whoever sits to the left will have better view of the cup approaching. Maybe some chair swapping if you do bad or so? What happens if you drink from someone's cup after they were done?

I didn't understand why there were more than one button bound per player or if that made any difference.

Interesting concept though.
