Ludum Dare 37 — December 9th-11th, 2016 — Theme: One Room

Well, Mike ran in to problems getting working properly with about 12 hours left in the Compo, so this is the backup plan.

Room for One

by unit684 - Jam Entry

Jump (space bar) and move (WASD) around and try to reach the green square. If it's a bit hard to fit, try getting to the red squares and see what they do!

Controllers should work too!

The plan is to develop this further and do a multiplayer mode where you race each other, possibly try and make some AI too. The levels would also probably be better for speedruns and stuff if the red zone's didn't spawn randomly. Perhaps powerups and merging cubes and stuff too, feel free to give me some suggestions :)

For now though there are only four levels, I forgot ludum dare was on until Saturday night so I was in a bit of a rush to get it all finished!

I'll probably continue development of this, follow me on twitter for (probably infrequent) updates:

Hope you like my game! I look forward to the feedback. Sorry it's a bit rushed, forgot about LD so started a day late :)

This splitting mechanic is making me crazy. Awesome idea, nicely executed. A bit frustrating, when you don't want to split again, but the red spot spawns directly in front of you.
It's a hard, fun game.

Awesome game. The idea is incredible. "Split to conquest" right? I look foward for the development and the multiplayer mode. Great job!

Briliant concept! Plenty of space for improvement, would love to see it turned into a polished game

Neat game! Especially the last level was pretty cool. Controlling the whole group is a bit difficult though mainly because bigger blocks can block the entrance and it feels a bit random to get the right blocks into the exit. Maybe it's better to make the exit some kind of sifting mechanic so you can just rub all the objects over it and have the small ones fall through.

I didn't get the "One Room" theme of the game but splitting is a nice idea.

I enjoyed this idea - the only thing I wished for was that the earlier levels incorporated the red squares more. It seemed like levels 1-3 were very easy and required no using the red squares, then the last level was craaazy hard :) Great work!

The time limit was a good design choice

Very cool concept! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 37 games, if you’d like to take a look. :)
