Network of the Trapped

A game about constructing a social network, with less than utopian intents. Develop the website through a minigame, attract users through a range of adverts and purchase servers to handle the number of users. Do all this to make money, and keep developing your site, to keep people trapped within their rooms, viewing your ads and giving you their data!

Let me know if you encounter any issues that are fixable after the time is over, or any that I can put into a post-LD version. As I imagine most people are by now, I'm very tired, so there are bound to be many bugs.

This is a very cool game. It looks nice and has well thought-out mechanics. (The flashing server looks really nice).
Although at first I didn't get that you had to type the letters in when developing. Also I couldn't complete the first task so I got stuck with almost no active users, but maybe that's just me being bad at typing random letters.
It is a lot of fun though!

Great game. It took some time to figure out you had to press the corresponding letter, but after I figured that out, it was really fun.

I can only guess that the game is unfinished, which is a shame because it's a nice concept. I tried several things. One was unlocking everything, although the virtual existence pods simply wouldn't even let me attempt them. I also tried to just make as much money as possible but no matter what my advert and data settings were I couldn't make any money. Was 10k in debt (with it to continue to go down at the cost of my 2 servers) despite having 200 current users and 400 total, and 16h usage time.

The room graphics are great, but the text being green on black gave me a headache after playing the typing game for to long. Otherwise it's a great concept and if you can fix it up then I'll definitely give it another play after ludum dare is over!

A waste of 15 minutes for me. Can't make revenue at all, making the game unplayable. It's a shame, because it would have been fun.

The aesthetic is very nice, I wish there were more minigames or 90's looking effects to go with it. And of course music, maybe the usual sleep / eat to survive as well? Well don though!

That's a good idea!
Pretty fun to play, but I suggest you to use random words, not just characters. I think it would be easier to type it in. Keep rocking!

Interesting concept, although I did not manage to generate any revenue (as far as I could see). Perhaps clarify the effects (and interdependencies?) of the three monetization options?

The "type to implement new features" mini-game was an interesting way to handle the implementation of the social network - the "look ahead" feature was a nice touch.
