OneRoom Farmer

by badabooom63 - Jam Entry

Hello!

Well, we finished our entry. It's about a farmer and his dream. He decided to create a little garden in his room and plant the magic rose. So let's help him grow this beautifull flower!
You can plant different vegetables, that can be sold after they get ripe. The sell value depends on the vegetable quality. And vegetable quality depends on the other plants, that grow close up to it. All the influences are written in helpfull popups. If vegetable quality is toooo loow, than you would get no money for it. So keep your plants fresh and cool! Also, you can buy bonus items, that will be encreasing your vegetables qulity on each grow stage.

Oh, yeah. Plants are growing by stages. If you find it too fast - than you can play Zen Mode, where there is no growth timer and you can push "Next stage" button to set next growth stage for your garden.

All the controls is just a mouse. Sorrry for only windows build, we would try to fix it to let you play our game on another platforms!

I'm always a huge fan of farming games that break the mold of "optimal crops". I haven't seen one with your mechanic at all.

I like the concept, the farming + tetrisy gameplay, but gosh that "ERRRRRR" sound effect is jarring.

Relaxing and calm. Very good to spent time while taking a cup of tea. My only concern is I dont see how the theme of the jam fits in...

Well, the idea was to make a garden in the room, then improve this room (not only with things for garden, but luxury items too), and in the end the player will have beutiful room with a rose in the center, and luxury environment. But you know - time is the worst enemy, so in story line on main screen stayed only story abouty the Rose.

Relaxing and interesting, but I can't see how fit the theme One Room.

Interesting game, but getting money right at the start seemed a bit hard.

This is the first farmer that I see with these mechanics. I guess that you've come up with it because of the theme, it's great how the themes make us think on best ways to fit in it. Fantastic game!

Nice job! I like the visual style and the music. Mechanics are neat, and it was satisfying to build things up. Once you figure out a good enough crop layout the challenge sort of goes away, so maybe more complexity would be needed to keep it interesting for longer.

Thanks!
Swordbrella, yes, you are right!=) Firstly the idea was about backpack and empty ROOM in it. Then we think - why not combine it with farming in the room? So, yes, the theme gives us that idea.

The theme aspect to this was a little light, and I had a difficult time figuring out what the overlays were saying (the one about where to plant things, specifically). I did have fun in the short time I played it though, and the music was really good.

The UI at the beginning confused me on what things I could actually plant, but once I recognized it I figured it out... perhaps a tutorial of sorts would of helped out with that. And it would have been nice if the optimal plant location overlay could have been kept on screen all the time, rather than having to mouse over it. Could also have used a legend on what all of the icons were.

A very relaxing game. I enjoyed the interactions of the vegetables although it was kinda hard to pay attention to all of them. I think maybe there were too many vegetables for the amount of time they take to grow. With that pacing, my strategy was just to pick a few that I knew worked well together and plant them and ignore the rest.

Nice idea! It didn't seem like I had to rely too much on the positive/negative boosts though. I guess I'd have gotten to the end quicker if I had made full use of them, but using the carrot next to the expensive stuff seemed to do the trick anyway :P

Relaxing and solid game, I am missing a bit of an end goal in the game though. Also quite strange I had quite a bit of cash and then after one harvest most of it was gone, not quite sure what happend there

Nice, but a bit slower game would be even nicer :)
