Tank Commander LD

‚ÄčTank Commander LD.

You take control of a tank crew who cannot leave the body of a battle tank (the 'room'). You do not control the tank directly, instead you must give instructions to your crew and assign them to the various functions within.

Getting started:
Until you have a commander, you cannot see out of the tank. Likewise, until you assign a driver, you cannot drive the tank etc. etc. The crew can be assigned to the various functions on the right-hand side of the screen. Remember, you only have 3 crew members.

Commander: Assign a commander to view the game world outside of the tank.
Driver: Assign a driver to .. eh, drive the tank
Loader: Needed to reload the main gun
Gunner: Needed to rotate and fire the main turret.
Fix Engines/Turret/Hull: Assign a crew member to fix one of these components
Ext. Guns: Assign a crew member to sit outside and fire at the enemy.


I used Java 1.8 and LWJGL 3.1.

Unfortunately, I didn't have nearly enough time to finish this game, and as such there are no real levels or objectives. I would appreciate any feedback you have about the controls of the tank and the game mechanics (using the power of imagination); as I am thinking to continue this project over the christmas holidays with some proper missions.

Also, bugs, crashes would be great to hear about!

A pretty cool idea. Feels incomplete (like you said), but I like the concept.

Not sure about all the infantry shooting flimsy bullets at the tank should damage it so. Would probably work better with less infantry and more tank-on-tank action. The overall pace could slow down a bit then too.

Graphics are all right, but it all feels kinda flat. Shadows!
